  • Question: Do children need to apply for and pay for a visa upon arrival ?
  • Answer: Yes, if they are traveling on their own passport.
  • Question: Can I get a visa on arrival without a return ticket from Thailand ?
  • Answer: Theoretically, this is possible, but without a return air ticket there is a risk of not getting on the plane to Thailand. The airline has the right to refuse check-in for a flight if the passenger does not have the necessary documents to obtain permission to enter the country (or to obtain a visa upon arrival).
  • Question: Can I present a bank card to prove that I have the necessary funds to live in Thailand?
  • Answer: You can, if you can show that there are enough funds on your bank card.
  • Question: How much does a visa on arrival in Thailand cost ?
  • Answer: 2000 baht.

  • Answer: From the date of arrival. For example, if you arrive in Thailand on March 1, then you are allowed to stay in Thailand until March 15 inclusive.
  • Question: Can I extend my visa on arrival while in Thailand?
  • Answer: Theoretically, it’s impossible (at least that’s what they write on the website of the Thai consulates). An exception is a health condition that does not allow travel and is confirmed by an appropriate document from a doctor. Personal experience: the visa was extended for 5 days by presenting a certificate of the required format from the hospital and paying 1,900 baht.
  • Question: health insurance for a visa ?
  • Answer: You don’t need a visa on arrival, but you should take out medical insurance for a trip to Thailand. This can easily be done via the Internet at the Ukrainian insurance company Viso or at the international one by selecting it on the Cherehapa website (just check the box “I am not a citizen of Russia”). Allianz and Alfa Insurance are considered one of the most reliable insurance companies.

For example, if you entered Thailand on November 9, then you must leave the country no later than November 8 (before 23:59).

Gather the necessary documents

The documentation package depends on the type of visa being issued. When flying to Thailand without obtaining a permit and for tourism purposes, you must have with you:

  2. Migration card. Filled out according to form TM6 and issued directly on the plane before arrival.

Upon arrival at the airport, present the above documents. The border guard pays special attention to the registration of a foreign passport. Having a wet and dirty document may result in denial of entry into the Kingdom. Be prepared to answer the purpose of the trip. Filling out a form upon arrival

This form is filled out by the applicant already in Thailand. Typically, forms are filled out at airports. If the border crossing was carried out by land, then this form is not filled out. A sample can be found in the airport building. If you have any problems filling it out, you can ask customs officials for help.

Sample application form for a visa to Thailand

The Thai visa form consists of fourteen points. For people who have previously encountered filling out similar forms, filling out such a questionnaire will not be difficult. But people who have to fill it out for the first time may have problems. Therefore, I will dwell in detail on each item of the form:

  • In the first column “Miss/Mr/Mrs” it is necessary to indicate the applicant’s personal data, namely last name and first name. Initials must be written only in Latin letters. When filling out, you should make sure that the information you fill out exactly matches the data on your foreign passport.
  • The next column is “citizenship”. You need to enter your current citizenship. If it has changed in the past, it is not necessary to indicate this.
  • In the third paragraph, write the number of the document used to enter Thailand.
  • In the fourth column, indicate when and by whom the travel document was issued.
  • In the fifth paragraph, write the applicant's date of birth.
  • In the sixth column, indicate the validity period of the travel document.
  • In the seventh, enter the flight number. This refers to the flight number on which the applicant arrived.
  • In the eighth, indicate your profession. You can write your specialty in education or the profession in which the applicant works.
  • In the ninth paragraph, provide information regarding the address of residence in the applicant’s home country. There is no need to write in detail. It is enough to indicate the country and city where the applicant permanently resides.
  • In the tenth column you will need to indicate the address of the inviting party or the hotel complex where the applicant intends to reside while staying in Thailand.
  • In the eleventh column, write information about the host company. If this is a tourist trip, then provide information about the travel agency that has undertaken to meet the applicant in Thailand.
  • The twelfth paragraph is filled out only in cases where the trip is carried out with minor children. In this column you will need to enter the children’s information, such as: Names.
  • Date of birth.
  • Place of Birth.
  • The last two points should be signed and dated.
  • After filling out all the data, a photograph of the applicant is pasted into the form. Photo size 4 by 6 cm.

Why may a visa or entry into the country be denied?

A simplified regime and the ability to fly to Thailand for tourism purposes without a visa does not mean that border guards allow everyone into the country. There are a number of reasons why exit from the airport may be denied. In this case, you will have to buy a ticket, board a plane and fly home. Let's highlight the main reasons:

    1. Financial viability standards are not met. For visa-free travel, the requirements are almost the same as for a regular visa to Thailand. The tourist must confirm the presence of a certain amount of cash, otherwise he will not be allowed into the country. There are more and more cases where travelers are turned away due to lack of money. The optimal income level for a Thai tourist visa is 20,000 baht per person or 40,000 per family.
    2. A crumpled or stained passport. It was noted above that customs officers carefully examine the tourist’s foreign passport. If it is badly dented or dirty, the person is likely to be sent home.
    3. Suspicions of false data in the migration form. If a customs officer notices a discrepancy between the information in the documents and the card, he has the right to refuse.
    4. Absence of any documents required when applying for a visa to Thailand or when traveling without permission.

Generally speaking, the reasons for refusal are standard - the person is on the black list, lack of any documents, errors in filling out, etc. That’s why you shouldn’t relax when visiting Thailand. It is better to decide in advance on the optimal visa, prepare the documentation and check its compliance with the requirements of the Thai authorities.

What to include in the application fields

To obtain a visa to Croatia, you need to collect a certain package of papers. You will need all of them in order to fully fill out the form. It is similar to the Schengen version: only 37 points on 2 sheets and 4 pages.

The application is filled out as follows (point by point):

1 and 3. We take the last name and first name from the foreign passport

It is important to transfer them to the Croatian application form in the same form, letter by letter

    1. Relevant only for those citizens who have changed their surnames during their lives. To write correctly in Latin, use transliteration. It can be found on the Internet by entering a query in a search engine.
    2. When were they born? The sequence of writing numbers is the same as in Russia.
    3. Where were you born? This information is in the passport. All you have to do is copy it correctly. You can write it in English or translate it spelling using transliteration.
    4. The name of the state in which you were born must be transferred from the passport. If this is the USSR, write “USSR”.
    5. Transfer your current citizenship from your ID. If you were born before December 25, 1991, you must fill out the column by entering “USSR.”
    6. Check mark in the required field.
    7. Same as 8.
    8. Details of the parent or guardian (full name, citizenship, address and telephone number). The item must be filled out only in the questionnaires of citizens under the age of majority.
    9. You don't have to write anything.
    10. Place a tick in the appropriate box. To obtain a visa for a child included in the parent’s document, the category of the parent’s passport is indicated.

13,14,15,16. Transfer information from your foreign travel pass. Translate the abbreviation of the service that issued the document using transliteration.

    1. The actual address, that is, where you can be found.
    2. Russians choose the box next to the word “no.”
    3. Position in English or Croatian. If you don't work - unemployed; if you are involved in housekeeping, it is called “housewife”. In application forms for a visa, a preschooler should write “child”, a schoolchild – “pupil”, a university student – “student”.
    4. Address of work, university, school, home, etc., depending on the type of activity.
    5. Place a tick in the required box.
    6. Write “Croatia”, or rather “Croatia”.
    7. Indicate which way you will cross the border of Croatia, for example, “Zagreb Airport”.
    8. Select what you need and check the box.
    9. Write in numbers the number of days you will stay in the state.
    10. Indicate visas that were received within the past 3 years.
    11. Biometrics data - “No”, as Croatia does not take fingerprint samples yet.
    12. For those who fill out the form for a transit visa. Indicate the presence or absence of permission to enter the destination state and document details.
    13. Estimated date when you will enter Croatia.
    14. Estimated date for departure.
    15. Information about the receiving party: either the full name of a private person, or the name of the hotel, as well as email, address and telephone number.
    16. For business trips, as well as for study or treatment. This item is optional. Write what you know.
    17. The left part is filled by those who financially support their trip, the right part by the rest.
    18. Information about relatives living in the EU. If there are none, there is no need to write anything.
    19. Indicate the degree of relationship (gr. 34).
    20. Write where you decided to get a visa and the date you signed the completed application.
    21. Signature.

Those who request multiple permissions also sign in the third box. It is also placed at the very end if the application form is filled out for a person who has not reached the age of majority. It is advisable to use a sample for verification, since confusion often arises with signatures.

    Interesting Ukraine

You can also contact the Croatian visa center located in various cities of Russia.

We invite you to learn how to move to Croatia for permanent residence and obtain a residence permit.

If you have a valid Schengen visa, you can enter Croatia with it.

    Interesting fact

On the Internet you can read many stories about Russians who live in Thailand without long-term power. This is possible if you periodically cross the Thai border and then return back. This movement in one day is called a border run. In 2014, this method was banned, but a year later the restriction was lifted again.

Now the tourist has the right to cross the border of the Kingdom and return back, extending his stay for another 30 days. The downside is that the fourth time the border may be closed to entry without explanation. Many people ask what visa to Thailand is needed in this case. The best solution is to apply for a visa allowing you to leave the country for a period of more than 24 hours, obtain a permit for 60 days and return to the Kingdom.

How to fill out a Thai visa application correctly

It's time to continue the topic of visa issues. Remember, I already wrote about the types of visas and permits that foreign citizens need when entering Thailand. Let me remind you that if you are a citizen of the Russian Federation or Ukraine and are traveling to the Kingdom for tourism purposes for a period of less than 30 days, you do not need to read this article, since a free stamp is placed at the border. For citizens of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and other CIS countries to enter the Kingdom, as well as for citizens of the Russian Federation who are planning to come to Thailand for more than 30 days, the article will very much help to understand all the intricacies of filling out the application form for a Thai visa. Moreover, if citizens of Georgia and Kazakhstan can obtain a visa on arrival, then citizens of Belarus need to submit documents only to the nearest consulate of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Attention! From April 14, 2021, Thailand will cancel visas on arrival for citizens of Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and some other countries. Now they get a free 30-day stamp, just like Russians. And Georgian citizens will now be able to obtain a paid visa on arrival at the border (VOA) for 15 days.

It is worth mentioning for what cases the questionnaires that I provide below are needed. Similar forms are filled out at all consulates of the Kingdom of Thailand and at airports: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Hat Yai, Utapao, Samui. Not all pedestrian crossings have a visa service; mostly they only issue visa-free stamps. Therefore, if you are planning to leave Thailand and return and have a tourist visa in your passport, you must put a re-entry stamp to leave. It can be done in a few hours at any immigration office throughout the country. For example, you entered the Kingdom for 15 days, having received a visa, and are going to go on an excursion to Kuala Lumpur. To return safely to Thailand, you will need to visit the immigration office and obtain a second entry permit on your visa. Or upon arrival you will have to pay again for a new visa.

But let's return to the questionnaire that you will need to fill out. Here are two forms typical for Thai consulates and for obtaining a visa on arrival. Visually, they may differ depending on the consulate, but the principle remains the same. The forms are clickable, you can fill them out as a sample, but under no circumstances use them as the original, always take a new form.
