From April 1, 2021, Cyprus lifted all restrictions on international flights and opened air borders with Russia.
The resorts of Ayia Napa, Paphos, Limassol, and others, popular among Russian tourists, are again ready to welcome their guests with their characteristic Greek hospitality. For the convenience of travel for tourists from Russia, air traffic has already been restored and direct flights have been launched.
Before the trip
From April 1, 2021, entry rules for Cyprus for Russians require a negative result of a PCR test for coronavirus infection taken 72 hours before departure from the country. The finished test must be uploaded to the Cyprus Flight Pass website. The certificate must have the original blue seal of the laboratory (clinic) and the signature of the doctor. Attention! From May 10, 2021, the test will not be required for those who have already been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine (including the Russian Sputnik V). The vaccination certificate will need to be uploaded to the Cyprus Flight Pass in lieu of the PCR test.
The PCR test for coronavirus must indicate your full last name, first name and patronymic. Be sure to check whether the date and time of collection of biological material are indicated correctly in the certificate.
If you are flying from another region of Russia with a transfer, then you have the opportunity to take an urgent PCR test for COVID-19 directly at Moscow airports, which is very convenient when calculating the validity period of the test results.
You also need to fill out a form for a pro-visa and wait for a response by email. The response time ranges from 2 hours to 5 days (usually it arrives the next day).
After receiving a response about the readiness of the pro-visa, 24 hours before departure you need to fill out a special entry permit electronically. This will be your pass to board the plane along with your boarding pass.
Schengen visa
Schengen visa
There are specific features here: with a Cyprus visa you cannot enter the Schengen zone, but with a Schengen visa you can go to a piece of paradise. The main thing is not to get confused!
And the point: if category C (single entry), then entry into Cyprus is possible only from the Schengen area. So it is recommended to visit several countries before Cyprus.
Duration: remaining time on the National visa - the expiration period of the issued document.
In all other cases, you will need the Cypriot version.
Do I need a visa to Cyprus?
Yes, a visa to Cyprus is needed for Russians, but it is issued free of charge in a simplified form (using the pro-visa system) on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and sent to you by mail. It will need to be printed and presented at passport control.
This visa gives the right to cross the border once and is valid only for direct flights from Russia. It cannot be used for transplants in other countries.
You can also fly to Cyprus with a regular Schengen visa, but you still need
entry permission 24 hours
Visiting Northern Cyprus
Citizens of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus can legally enter Northern Cyprus (Turkish) from Southern Cyprus (Greek) without a visa, using a foreign passport for a period of up to 90 days.
Entry from the northern territory to the southern part is officially considered illegal. Therefore, tourists entering the island through the ports of Kyrenia, Famagusta or Ercan Airport may be denied entry to the Greek (southern) part of the island.
Also, entry marks for Northern Cyprus may permanently deprive you of the opportunity to travel to Southern Cyprus and Greece. Therefore, to visit the northern territory, a special procedure was organized and entry stamps are placed not in the international passport, but on a separate sheet. The problem can also be solved by obtaining a second passport, which has become possible in Russia since 2021.

Visitor visa
It is similar to a tourist visa. A full description will be given a little later in the appropriate section. Let's look at the differences.
When registering, you do not need travel vouchers or confirmation of hotel reservations or hotel rooms on the territory of the Greek island. Instead, copies of documents of the inviting party (either a passport or a work/study visa) and the visitor (“Statement of Guest Responsibility” indicating their passport details, dates and place of stay on the island, certified signature of a Cyprus notary) must be provided to the regulatory authority.
Upon arrival
At all airports in Cyprus you will need:
- Present a valid passport;
- Show printed electronic entry permit;
- Provide a printed pro-visa via email;
- Provide a certificate of negative PCR test or vaccination certificate;
- Take another COVID-19 test at the airport for 30-35 €. Children under 12 years of age do not need to take the test again. The result will be ready almost immediately (from 20 minutes to 3 hours) and published on the website. You must wait for the test result at your booked hotel.
- We recommend the Dreamsim travel SIM card.

Visa application
To apply for a visa not via the Internet, it is not necessary to be personally present at the consulate, although, in principle, if any errors are discovered or special questions arise, a separate visit may be required. Documents are accepted on weekdays from 9:30 to 13:30, documents are issued from 14:00 to 15:00. Visa processing takes approximately 1-2 days, although in special cases it is possible to obtain a visa on the same day if you submit all the necessary documents and copies of air tickets confirming the need for an urgent visa before 12 noon.

Registration through the official website

Click on the picture with the “PROVISA FOR CYPRUS” logo, which corresponds to the region of residence of the tourist. Read the rules and instructions carefully.
Click on the “Apply for a pro-visa” button. In the screen that opens, select the consulate to which the tourist’s region belongs. In the second field, enter how many people will fill out the questionnaire.
Click on the “Continue” button. A questionnaire form will appear on the screen, which must be filled out in Latin letters.
