Until 2015, citizens of the Russian Federation wishing to obtain a foreign passport had to provide FMS employees not only with a work book, but also a copy of it certified by the seal and signature of the head of the personnel department. It was quite difficult to fulfill this requirement, since working people do not have this document in their hands.
Currently, this requirement has been canceled, so the original and a copy of the work book for an old-style international passport or biometrics are no longer needed. But this does not mean that the section on the applicant’s work activity has been removed from the application form - it still contains information about places of work for the last 10 years (including periods of temporary unemployment).
In addition, the abolition of the requirement to provide a work book when obtaining an old or new type foreign passport does not apply to all categories of citizens. This document will be needed for citizens who do not officially work, and for those who are not employed at all at the time of submitting the application.
