How to find a job

You can find work in Slovakia with the help of an agency or on your own. This country has high moral standards, and it is rare to find an unscrupulous employer here.

You can also find a job using the World Wide Web. Now a huge number of employers offer various vacancies and decent wages. You can compose and send your resume to many employers.

But to independently search for work in this way, you must speak at least two languages: Slovak and English. If a person also knows German at a conversational level, his chances increase several times.

To find a job in Slovakia in 2021, employment departments are provided, which select the required specialty based on the skill level of the employee.

The department can provide a workplace only if there are no applicants with Slovak citizenship.

This is what a Slovak citizen’s passport looks like

Moreover, the country has a quota system for foreigners, and if the allowable percentage has already been exhausted, no one will offer a job in this specialty. In return, they may recommend other vacancies in similar or similar specialties.

The most common vacancies for Russians are:

  • Domestic staff: nannies, housekeepers, governesses and managers.
  • Service personnel in hotel complexes: waiters, bartenders, kitchen workers and administrators.
  • Medical professions. Highly qualified doctors are especially valued.
  • Technical specialties.

Every representative of a foreign state has the right to find employment in Slovakia. To do this, he needs to apply for an immigration visa (national). After registration and entry into the country, a person is required to find a prospective place of work during the validity period of the visa.

The minimum period for obtaining a visa is two months. Maximum - one year. Basically, the average length of a document for Russians is nine months. This is not determined by current legislation, but by the personal needs of the person himself.

Slovakia is famous for its conscientiousness and decency, but despite this, there are also unscrupulous employers. You can check your workplace at the consulate.

How can a foreigner find a job in Russia?

  • June 4

Any foreigner who has reached the age of 18 and has a patent or work permit can work in Russia.

The following can also work in Russia:

  • foreigners who arrived from a country that does not require a visa;
  • foreign highly qualified specialists and members of their families;
  • full-time students of an accredited educational organization.

By law, companies can hire foreigners if their number does not exceed the permissible proportion of foreign citizens. For example, in construction the share of foreign workers can reach 80%, and in sports - 25%.

Question from a reader : “Hello. I am Bakhtiyor Abdukakhorov. Question: can we, foreigners (migrants), find work in Moscow? If we can, then how?”

Svetlana Petrikova, partner at the law firm PG Partners: Yes, of course. To officially get a job in Moscow (in general throughout the Russian Federation), migrants from visa-free countries must have a work patent. This is a permit to work in Russia. To apply for a patent, the following documents are required:

  • statement;
  • passport;
  • migration card with entry stamp. The purpose of the visit must be indicated there - “work”;
  • issued VHI policy;
  • medical certificates confirming the absence of HIV infection and drug addiction;
  • certificate of migration registration at the place of residence;
  • test results for knowledge of the Russian language, history and legislation of the Russian Federation.

All documents must be taken to the migration department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation or to the center for the provision of public services. A foreigner must submit documents within 30 calendar days from the date of entry into Russia. The countdown starts from the date on the border service stamp. If you do not submit documents on time, you will face a fine of 10 thousand to 15 thousand rubles. The Ministry of Internal Affairs issues a paper patent no later than 10 working days from the date of receipt of the documents. A patent is issued for a period of one to 12 months. Then the patent needs to be renewed. Also, for a patent, a foreigner must make monthly advance payments. This is a different amount in different regions. It consists of the cost of the patent multiplied by regional coefficients. In Moscow it is 5350 rubles per month. Without payment, the patent will cease to be valid on the day following the end of the paid period. Then the whole procedure will have to be repeated again. An employer must suspend an employee whose patent is inactive or expired until the employee renews it. Otherwise, the employer will face fines or suspension of the organization’s activities.

Citizens of Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries can work under a patent.

For a patent you will need:

  • passport,
  • migration card,
  • compulsory medical insurance or voluntary medical insurance policy,
  • certificate of absence of HIV infection,
  • diploma or certificate of education,
  • application for a patent.

The patent is issued in the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

You can start with job search sites. Write a resume and don’t wait for a response, but apply to the vacancies yourself.

When applying, be sure to ask your employer which of you should monitor the deadlines for renewing documents - passport, migration card and visa. If there is less than a year left until the expiration date of the passport, the employer may refuse to hire you.

Question from a reader: “Good afternoon, I’m Ghada Daoud, an obstetrician-gynecologist from Syria. Graduate of Russia. I received a residence permit in Russia at the end of February 2021. I tried to get a job in both public hospitals and private ones. It didn't work out anywhere. I even looked for any job in other areas, even as a cleaner, and nothing came of it. I need to live on something. Help me get any job. Tell me how to find a way out."

Elena Gudina, privately practicing lawyer, specialist in labor relations and disputes, expert in assessing legal risks: The Law of the Russian Federation “On Employment in the Russian Federation” provides (Part 2 of Article 6) that it also applies to foreign citizens and stateless persons. Consequently, the reader can contact the employment service at his place of residence and register as unemployed. He will be given an allowance and assisted in finding a job. You can also recommend searching for work on trusted sites, through social networks and various messengers. According to the Law of the Russian Federation “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation” (Part 4 of Article 13), a foreign citizen who has a residence permit does not have to apply for a work patent or work permit. He has the right to work in any region of Russia. The main thing when moving is to register at your place of residence in the new region. In rural settlements, in some regions and cities, there is a shortage of qualified doctors and paramedical personnel. If the reader is considering the option of employment with relocation, then it makes sense to contact the health department of your region of residence or another region of Russia. Currently, all employers in Russia are required to provide information on their vacancies. This information is provided on the “Work in Russia” portal. You can look at available vacancies not only in your region of residence, but throughout Russia. On the same portal you can register as unemployed. Detailed instructions can be read in the article “How to receive unemployment benefits in 2020.”

Work will most likely be denied if the foreigner has a criminal record, has repeatedly violated the visa regime with Russia, or has fines for being late in re-issuing documents. For example, I forgot to renew my migration card.

Poor knowledge of the language can also become a significant obstacle during the job search. Sometimes companies meet halfway and hire tutors or invite teachers to train their employees. You can improve your Russian language on your own using free online lessons.

A job application can be denied for many reasons. Unfortunately, sometimes it cannot be ruled out that an employer may have a biased attitude towards citizens of a particular country.

Question from a reader : “I have such a difficult situation in my family:

  • four children;
  • I worked at Moscow Longevity, which now works only online;
  • The husband is a citizen of India, but has a residence permit in Russia.

He has been working as a cook in an Indian restaurant for three years, but he was officially hired only at the end of 2021. His education is only from school in India. Now he is also unemployed, like me. Question: what is the best thing for us to do to find a good job for our husband? Should we join the labor exchange and try to get training to get an education in a profession? Or apply for citizenship and then look for a job? When my husband receives citizenship, will he be able to apply for free education, for example, at a culinary college? Thank you".

Elena Gudina, private practicing lawyer, specialist in labor relations and disputes, expert in assessing legal risks: If you have a residence permit (residence permit), you do not need to apply for a work permit or patent. The employer of such a foreign citizen only must notify the migration authorities within three working days of his employment or dismissal (Part 8 of Article 13 of the Law of the Russian Federation “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation”). A foreign citizen with a residence permit can register as unemployed and receive government support, including in finding a job. Therefore, Russian citizenship is not required to find a job. If the unemployed does not have qualifications, then, according to Art. 23 of the Law “On Employment in the Russian Federation”, in the direction of the employment service, he can receive basic and additional vocational education. On a free basis, a foreign citizen can receive vocational education in blue-collar professions (within the framework of the educational program of secondary general education). A foreigner can receive secondary vocational education (training mid-level specialists) within established quotas or on a paid basis by concluding an agreement with an educational institution. And in order to receive free secondary vocational education, your husband will need to obtain Russian citizenship.

The countdown starts from the date on the border service stamp.

Forums and verified agencies

You can try to find a job in Slovakia using Russian-language forums - for example, by contacting Vinsky’s “Independent Travel” forum.

You can also go to the group on Facebook “Work in Slovakia” and look for vacancies there.

There are few truly proven, reliable agencies. One of them is located at: slovakiagarant.com.

The main disadvantage of working with agencies is that they do not work with clients for free. The minimum bet is 150 euros.

How to find work in Slovakia without intermediaries and through an agency

To find a job, you can use numerous websites, both Slovak and international:

  • https://www.profesia.sk/en/
  • https://www.ponuky.sk/
  • https://www.grafton.sk/
  • https://www.careerjet.sk/
  • https://www.learn4good.com/jobs/language/english/list/country/slovakia/
  • https://www.monster.com/jobs/q-slovakia-jobs.aspx

You can use the websites of periodicals in Slovakia, such as the newspaper “Pravda”, “Observer of Slovakia” and others:

  • https://www.pravda.sk/typo3temp/cache/perex_cachegenerator/superhp.html;
  • https://hnkonto.hnonline.sk/
  • https://spectator.sme.sk/

Another possibility is to seek help from specialized agencies, which must have the appropriate license. Firms of this kind have their own databases with a list of vacancies. Agencies with extensive experience and a good reputation have extensive databases of employers. They will be able to quickly find the job you were looking for.

Contacting an employment agency has the following advantages:

  1. A company providing job search services acts as an additional guarantor in labor relations.
  2. Agency employees will be able to take into account all the client’s wishes as much as possible and choose the best option.
  3. Saving time on searching for a vacancy and preparing the necessary package of documents.

An independent search will require more time and effort, but will be less expensive.

The next step, after you have found a suitable position, is concluding an employment contract. This is the main document that confirms the legality of labor relations. It must contain information such as:

  • Term of the work;
  • position and job responsibilities or specialization and nature of the work performed;
  • salary level;
  • terms of payment for overtime work;
  • work schedule;
  • working conditions;
  • number and duration of breaks;
  • rights and obligations of both parties;
  • conditions under which an employer or employee has the right to terminate an employment relationship early.

Additionally, the contract may contain information about social guarantees provided by the employer: insurance, housing, food, medical care. The more detailed the contract is, the better. This will help make future work conditions as transparent as possible. If a future employee still has questions after reading the terms of the contract, it is better to discuss them with the employer before signing it.

Employment options in the country

There are several employment options in the country:

  • seasonal work;
  • temporary job;
  • without knowledge of the language.

Seasonal work

Salary – Slovakia: (1) Fruit picker (2) Farm worker (3) Gym worker

Temporary job

Temporary work is practically the same as seasonal work. From time to time, Slovak employers invite foreigners to work on farms, construction sites or factories.

Employment without knowledge of the language

A person who does not speak Slovak can find work in the following areas:

  • construction;
  • pharmaceutical;
  • agro-industrial

Without knowing the language, a person can get a job as a gardener, dishwasher and cleaner.

Other options

You can come to the country as a volunteer. This option is more suitable for students - it combines work and study.

Adults should consider the option of shift work. This vacancy is suitable for all representatives of construction specialties.

Salary – Slovakia: (1) Construction worker (2) Warehouse worker (3) Support worker

What is the salary in Slovakia?

So, how much can you earn in Slovakia? If you compare wages in Slovakia with other EU countries, they are quite small. However, for Ukrainians and Belarusians it is in a promising direction, so citizens of these countries strive to go to work in Slovakia. The average wage is 722 euros, which is approximately in the same ratio with wages when working in Poland. In the capital, wages are higher. The minimum wage is 480 euros.

The highest level of pay is for doctors, drivers, and at the mine. Specialists in economics, finance, lawyers, managers and pilots also earn good money. Their wages reach 2,500 euros monthly. Unskilled labor here is valued at 500 euros.

Vacancies can be divided into 2 categories:

  • Skilled work. Foreign citizens who speak the language, have work experience and higher education can count on such work. For this purpose, a person must have knowledge of English and Slovak. Often people go to work in the medical field, which pays well. Also no less popular are vacancies in the field of construction and engineering specialties. Work in factories in Slovakia is in demand. There is a shortage of drivers in the country. The minimum wage is 1000 euros;
  • Unskilled labor. In most cases this is a temporary job. Often it does not require special knowledge or skills. People may have minimal knowledge of the language. There are no requirements for higher education here. This year, people in this industry worked on construction sites, warehouses, and agriculture. In the country, nannies, dishwashers, and waiters are required for such work. This is low-paid work, which in most cases does not provide a person with any prospects for development. The maximum salary is 1000 euros.

Requirements for foreign workers in Slovakia

One of the main requirements that Slovak employers put forward for foreign applicants is knowledge of Slovak or English. But also a foreigner must have knowledge, skills and abilities corresponding to the specialty.

In 2021, Slovak employers are putting forward their demands on employees. They differ in each area, but the main ones are:

  • Working age. The average age category is 25–30 years.
  • Foreign language skills.
  • Availability of qualifications.

What do employers pay attention to?

When selecting candidates, the following criteria are taken into account:

  • Availability of a certificate of advanced training.
  • Presence of recommendations.
  • Work experience.
  • Knowledge of foreign languages.
  • Availability of a European diploma.

There are special requirements for a resume. It should be drawn up in a standard form, which is accepted in European countries. More information can be found here: europass.cedefop.europa.eu.

What criteria are used to select candidates for a work visa to Slovakia?

Getting the desired job for foreigners in Slovakia is not easy. The opportunity directly depends on your capabilities and the availability of candidates from the EU. If there are no other candidates, then you have a better chance of getting a work permit.

When selecting a candidate, special attention is paid to the following indicators:

  • Having a higher education diploma. Those citizens who received it in Europe have an advantage;
  • Level of proficiency in English, Slovak and German languages;
  • Having work experience in education;
  • Availability of recommendations from previous places of work;
  • Availability of European-style advanced training certificates.

Professions in demand

Of the available job options in Slovakia, the most common are the following vacancies for Russian migrants:

  • servants employed at home - as nannies, cleaners, governesses, etc.;
  • hotel employees - waiter, bartender, concierge;
  • medical personnel (qualified doctors are in particular demand);
  • workers with technical specialties.

The most popular professions are given, but some candidates have a chance to find a job in another field. To do this, you must have the appropriate qualifications. A job as a welder in Slovakia or in some construction specialty may be offered, but such places are seasonal.

Please note that applicants have preference:

  • suitable age category (on average - from 25 to 30 years);
  • knowledge of foreign languages (Slovak and English are required, German is recommended);
  • highly qualified and experienced.

Slovak legislation sets quotas for foreigners to be hired, so it is impossible to fill a vacancy in a certain specialty if the established limit has been exhausted.

Stages of employment in Slovakia for citizens of Russia, Ukraine and CIS countries

The main stages of employment look like this:

  • search for an employer;
  • conclusion of an employment contract;
  • obtaining a work permit;
  • obtaining a work visa.

Finding an employer and concluding an employment contract

You need to look for an employer using the methods indicated above:

  • on forums;
  • in groups on Facebook;
  • on Slovak websites where vacancies are regularly posted.

The next stage is preparing and sending your resume to the employer. Then you should conclude an agreement with the employer. The contract must clearly state the responsibilities of the foreigner and indicate the amount of his salary.

Work permit

Regardless of the vacancy or position, foreign representatives will require permission to carry out labor activities on the territory of the republic. It is impossible to obtain it yourself, since the corresponding application is submitted directly by the employer himself.

The applicant must convince him of his professionalism, desire to work and level of qualifications. The permit is issued only to a specific person. It implies carrying out work activities in the territory of Slovakia precisely with the employer who submitted the request. That is, a work permit is issued strictly for a specific workplace.

If it changes for any reason, you must submit a new application for a permit. The processing period for an application for a work permit takes at least 30 calendar days from the date of submission.

To obtain a work permit, the Slovak employer applies to the territorial employment authority - the labor exchange. The validity period of the permit is one year. If necessary, it can be extended for another two years. But in case of extension, you must also submit a new application.

It is very important that the renewal document contains identical information to that in the first application. If the data does not match, the extension may be refused.

If an employer invites employees to work seasonally, then the permit is issued for six months. More detailed information about this can be found here: mic.iom.sk.

The country has a quota system. That is, for each specialty there is a certain number of places allocated by the state.

If, in the case of an independent search, a person finds a job in a specialty whose quota percentage has already been exhausted for the current period, then a permit will not be issued.

A huge advantage of a work permit is that it provides all the legal grounds for submitting documents for a residence permit in Slovakia.

This is what a Slovak residence permit looks like

Types of permits for legal work

Main types of work permits:

  • Complex – issued in relation to civil servants.
  • Simple – to all foreigners who want to work in Slovakia.
  • Simplified – issued for students and seasonal workers.

If a work permit is accepted for a highly qualified specialist, then he is issued a “blue card” - a special document that allows him to live and work in the territory of the European Union.

A “blue card” is a special document that allows you to live and work in the European Union.

Who does not need a work permit?

According to the latest amendments adopted in 2021 to the law on the residence of foreigners in Slovakia, a work permit is not required:

  • foreign citizens with a residence permit;
  • graduates of Slovak universities or colleges.

You can get acquainted with the text of the law on the website zakonypreludi.sk.

  2. Collection and provision of necessary documents.
  3. Passing the interview.
  4. Obtaining a visa.

Where are documents submitted?

Documents must be submitted either to the consular department of the Slovak Embassy at your actual place of residence, or to an accredited visa center of the country. For Russians, documents are submitted in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and for Ukrainians in Kyiv and Uzhgorod.

All necessary documents for traveling to Slovakia in 2021 must be submitted at least 15 working days before the estimated departure.

You only need to submit your application in person – you should not act through an agency.

Processing times and costs

The cost of obtaining a D visa varies from 90 to 250 euros. In case of refusal, money will not be returned.

In 2021, the Consulate extended the visa processing time. On average, a visa is issued within 3–5 days. In some cases, the period may be extended to 10–14 days.

Work in Slovakia for Russians in 2021: nuances of the search

Employment in Slovakia for Russians has difficulties in the area of obtaining permits. People from the EU can exercise the right to work freely, but for residents of the CIS they need to go through several stages:

  • Finding an employer who is willing to enter into an employment contract with you;
  • A work permit in Slovakia is issued directly in your country;
  • Preparation of documents for obtaining a work visa and residence permit in the country;
  • Moving to Slovakia.

You should start looking for vacancies in your own country. To do this, there is no point in going directly to Slovakia. The main task is to convince a potential employer that you are exactly the specialist he needs. That is, he must understand that he will not be able to find such an employee directly in Slovakia. To get a job, you need to prove that you are better than applicants from the EU, and this task is not easy to cope with. Jobs in Slovakia for Russians are mainly with low wages.

Qualifications, work experience and knowledge of languages play a decisive role when searching for work in Slovakia. It is necessary to speak not only Slovak, but also English. This is important for getting a high-level job with decent wages. Work in Slovakia without knowledge of the language is available in large quantities, since European citizens do not want to work there. In principle, you can find vacancies if you speak the language.

If you have found a suitable place, then most likely the employer will help you with the preparation of the necessary documents. A work permit is issued by the Slovak Labor and Social Security Administration.

It is important to note that proof of your qualifications must be included when applying for a permit. Some vacancies require a health certificate. The application is considered within 1 month from the date of submission. Questions regarding registration of a residence permit are coordinated with the local police department.

Popular vacancies in Slovakia

In large cities, the most in-demand specialists are highly qualified office workers with English language skills, medical staff, IT specialists, technologists and engineers. Working conditions and salary directly depend on the level and specialization of the enterprise - on average, from 2000 euros per month.

The labor market in Slovakia is also open to general workers, offering attractive vacancies with salaries starting from 1,000 euros per month. The average working day lasts from 8 to 12 hours, extracurricular work is encouraged and paid separately. As a rule, uniforms, accommodation and partly meals are provided free of charge by the employer.

There will be work not only for men, but also for women and married couples. Employee vacancies in warehouses and production lines, where perseverance and attentiveness are important, are very popular among this category of migrants. The working conditions are loyal and there is an opportunity not only to earn extra money, but also to fully relax on the weekend.

Good news for international drivers: Slovakia offers favorable working conditions for this category of employees - opening a work card for 2 years, a salary from 1,500 euros and the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. It’s nice to combine business with pleasure, isn’t it?)

What are the requirements for an employer hiring a foreigner?

In order to hire a foreign citizen, a Slovak employer must regularly make contributions to the pension fund and pay for social, state and health insurance for its employees. He should not have a record of labor violations, including cases of employment of illegal immigrants. In addition, the company must bring a stable income - organizations that are on the verge of bankruptcy cannot hire foreign citizens. When hiring an immigrant, a businessman is obliged to send a written request to the labor exchange, certifying the availability of jobs.

Popular work in Europe for Ukrainians

When choosing a country to work abroad, the first thing fellow countrymen pay attention to is their western neighbor – Poland. There is not enough labor force in the country, since the Poles themselves willingly leave for more developed European countries. In addition, close proximity and the opportunity to bring their family with them are attractive to emigrants. The most popular professions for Ukrainians in Poland are:

  • builders;
  • drivers;
  • teachers;
  • service workers;
  • medical workers;
  • IT specialists;
  • nurses;
  • engineers;
  • seasonal crop pickers;
  • general workers for production.

The minimum wage in Poland is 520 euros. Its size is influenced by knowledge of the national and English languages, experience and prestige of the profession. Employers from Latvia and Lithuania offer similar working conditions and salaries to Polish ones. In the nearby Czech Republic, wages are higher - at least 700 euros per month. Work in countries such as France, Ireland, and Germany is considered a little more prestigious. The salary here is much higher, the living conditions are more comfortable, but there are also pitfalls. Thus, for legal employment of foreigners in these countries, special permission from the authorities is required. It is issued only after the vacancy is registered on the labor exchange and does not receive a response from its citizens. Only after a vacancy is recognized as “unclaimed” can migrant workers apply for it. Israel can boast of no less good working conditions and wages for visitors. The average income there is 2000 euros per month. However, in countries such as Israel, France, Ireland, Germany, it is extremely difficult to get a legal job. To do this, you must be a highly qualified specialist and be prepared for a lengthy paperwork procedure.

Ways to quickly obtain a residence permit in Slovakia

The main ways to quickly obtain a residence permit:

  • Opening your own company in the country.
  • Investments in the Slovak economy.

Starting a business

In Slovakia, you can open both an LLC and a JSC. In the first case, the amount of the required authorized capital is 5 thousand euros, in the second - 25.0 thousand euros. Company registration takes 30 working days. Also read the article “Business in Slovakia”.

Entrepreneurs have a flexible tax system and a soft migration policy.

Investments in the country's economy

Most investors prefer to invest in Slovak real estate. The main advantage of investing in the country is the automatic receipt of a residence permit, and then citizenship.

How I ended up in Slovakia and opened a business here

I lived in Moscow and worked as a producer on television and in the media. For work, I traveled a lot around the CIS countries and Europe. One day I was carried to Slovakia. There I accidentally saw an advertising post that you can enroll in a local university for free without exams. I had been thinking about moving to Europe for a long time; I liked Slovakia for certain reasons, so I applied for it, although I didn’t really hope for anything.

I had already forgotten about the submitted application, but then the agent who was handling my documents wrote to me. He said that I was accepted into one of the universities in the country, and I left to study. Now I’ve been living in Slovakia for three years, I’m studying and at the same time I opened my own business with my partner - a language school for future migrants.

I currently live in Slovakia on a study residence permit; it allows me to travel around the EU countries and immediately bring my family here. In Slovenia, for example, you have to wait a year to transport your family. I’m soon planning to apply for a residence permit related to entrepreneurship—it’s also quite easy to obtain.

Things turned out interesting for me with the university. In general, to study for free, you need to know the Slovak language. But I enrolled in a program for studying Slavic languages, and now I’m studying Russian and Ukrainian at the university. Training is in Russian, so there are no problems. I am studying purely formally, for a residence permit, and to close the gestalt about higher education.

Now I’ll briefly tell you about the features of the country as a whole. So that you can understand whether it is “yours” or “not yours”.

What vacancies are in demand in Slovakia

The main drivers of the Slovak economy are the automotive industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the production of electrical equipment and the development of new technologies. Recently, the tourism industry has also been gaining momentum, and the hotel and restaurant business is developing.

Thus, work in Slovakia for Russians may include the following vacancies on the market for qualified specialists:

  • engineers in various industries;
  • lawyers;
  • economists;
  • doctors;
  • system administrators and programmers.

If you are going to apply for a highly paid position, then you must speak Slovak, English or German, have recommendations, work experience, and high qualifications.

Work in the capital - Bratislava - also includes vacancies designed for unskilled workers:

  • domestic staff (nanny, housekeeper, nurse);
  • service personnel (maid, waiter, bartender, kitchen worker);
  • driver;
  • security guard;
  • packer;
  • handyman

Working in Slovakia for Ukrainians and Russians has one important nuance: if immigrants from the CIS and European Union countries apply for a vacancy, then preference is given to Europeans.

Salaries in Slovakia differ from established payment standards in other European countries. The minimum wage here is 352 euros, the average is 1000 euros. The higher the qualification of a specialist, the more he will receive at the end of the month.

Workers in low-skilled professions can qualify for the following salary amounts (euro per month):

  1. Drivers - 700.
  2. Nurses, general workers - 470.
  3. Service personnel - 450.
  4. Postmen - 428.

  1. Engineers and IT managers - 2400.
  2. Financial managers - 2300.
  3. Lawyers - 2100.
  4. Doctors - 1700.
  5. Lawyers - 1500.

As in any country, in Slovakia you need to pay taxes, after which about 65% of the salary remains.

Applying for a work permit

There are several types of work permits in Slovakia:

  • simplified - for non-competitive categories in the labor market (minors, students, pensioners);
  • simple - for able-bodied categories of persons;
  • complex - for workers who are subject to additional requirements (civil service, working with secret documents, retraining and employment of foreigners).

Each category has its own list of documents and the procedure for submitting them. More detailed information about all the requirements can be found on the website of the consulate or at the agency for the employment of foreign citizens.

The following documents are submitted with the application for a work permit:

  • official application form for a work permit, which is completed in Slovak;
  • a copy of a foreign passport;
  • a copy of the document on residence permit in Slovakia (if this document was provided);
  • employment contract/written request from the employer;
  • document on higher education translated into Slovak (must be certified);
  • a certified copy of the employment contract.
