When and where can you apply for a visa to Bulgaria?

Bulgaria is a wonderful country for summer and winter holidays. In the warm season you can visit a large number of seaside resorts, and in cold weather - ski resorts. Russians need to obtain a visa to visit the country. To apply, you can contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow or the Visa Center.

Draw your attention to! Bulgarian visas do not allow visits to Schengen countries! However, if you have a valid Schengen visa in your passport, you do not have to apply for a separate visa to Bulgaria.

Procedure for submitting documents

The visa center accepts applications for short-term visas. You can submit documents in person, through relatives or representatives. Relatives need to have a passport with them, as well as documents that confirm family ties.

If the applicant instructs a representative to submit documents, he can do this with a passport and a notarized power of attorney. When a representative of an organization applies to open an official or business trip, he must have a corporate power of attorney with him.

You are allowed to apply no earlier than 90 days before the date of your planned trip. Basic documents that you need to prepare before visiting the Visa Application Center:

  1. Passport;
  2. Completed visa application form;
  3. International passport;
  4. Photo 3x4;
  5. Accommodation reservation;
  6. Confirmation of financial solvency for the duration of your stay in Bulgaria.

If minor children are traveling, you must provide a copy of their Birth Certificate. When a child travels without parents or with one, it is necessary to attach a written consent certified by a notary.

Additionally, the applicant needs to fill out a form for processing personal data.

On the Bulgarian Visa Application Center website you can track the status of your application. After review, the applicant is notified of the result. To obtain a passport in person, the applicant must have a national passport with him. When relatives receive a passport, they need to have a passport and proof of relationship with them. If the applicant wishes to authorize a third party to obtain a passport, a power of attorney, passport and a copy of the applicant's passport are required.

Payment of fees is made in rubles at the exchange rate at the time of payment. They do not pay for children under 6 years old. Persons with a certificate of disability are exempt from paying the visa fee.

Problems encountered when applying for a visa

Check the readiness of the Finnish visa

An applicant for a Bulgarian visa must meet certain requirements and submit a package of documents, the list of which is exhaustive and presented on the website of the consulate or any department dealing with this issue.

If the consular service has doubts about your intention to visit the country, inconsistency of documents or other violations, a visa to Bulgaria may be refused. Most likely, a visa will be refused if:

  • unreliable (deliberately false or erroneously presented) information is provided: about the applicant’s marital status, place of work or income level;
  • the applicant has traveled to Bulgaria or European countries where a citizen has violated the visa regime or there are violations of the legislation of the host country;
  • the documents contain information about a low level of income that does not allow for the declared residence in the host country;
  • the applicant has relatives living in European countries as refugees or forced migrants;
  • there have been previous trips to certain countries (Syria, Iran), or the applicant is a native of this country or another “unreliable” region in the opinion of the Bulgarian Consulate (Caucasus);
  • The documents provide conflicting information.

When a visa is refused, a corresponding stamp is placed in the passport, consisting of an alphabetic and numerical expression:

  • 1C - categorical refusal;
  • 2C means the need for personal presence and an interview with the consul;
  • 3C - documents are not fully presented or there are some questions for the applicant.

Important! If you receive documents with stamps 2C and 3C, this is not a final refusal and it is still possible to obtain a visa if you fulfill the specified requirements of the consulate - passing an interview or providing missing information.

A consular officer may refuse to issue a visa without giving reasons. An appeal against a refusal to issue a visa to Bulgaria is possible directly to the consulate of the country and must be written in the language of the country whose visa refusal is being appealed.

Parents should be more careful when applying for a visa for a child, especially when one of the parents is traveling with him, since the visa system requires the submission of a package of documents confirming that the rights of the child, like the other parent, are not violated. It is also mandatory for Bulgaria to have a medical policy (insurance) at the time of stay in the country and financial security.

Note! I would like to note that refusal of a tourist visa to Bulgaria for Russians rarely happens. In most cases, refusal is associated with unreliability (whether intentionally or through carelessness) of the submitted information, an incomplete set of documents, or an unconvincing interview. Such a reasoned refusal is quite difficult to challenge and prove its injustice.

To avoid such problems, you need to be careful about filling out the application form and completing the package of documents for a visa to Bulgaria, and then any check will give you a positive result.

Additional services

To simplify the procedure for obtaining a visa, the Visa Center provides a wide range of additional services:

  • Making photos (6 photos -200 rubles);
  • Copying documents (1 page – 10 rubles);
  • SMS notification about the readiness of documents;
  • The cost of the service is 100 rubles;
  • Personal service. This service costs 30 euros;
  • Assistance in filling out the application form for 300 rubles;
  • Submission of documentation at a convenient time and day. Applicants who use this service for 100 euros can submit their application outside business hours and at an address convenient to them. To do this, you need to make an appointment in advance;
  • Express delivery;
  • Submission of documents without waiting in line. This service costs 35 euros;
  • Registration of a medical policy for persons traveling abroad;
  • Premium service. This service implies individual service and expedited acceptance of documents. You can use this service by paying 35 euros.

The use of additional services does not affect the speed of consideration of the application and the outcome of its consideration.
