How long does it take to get a visa to the Czech Republic?

As in all other countries of the Schengen Area, to which the Czech Republic belongs, the period for obtaining a short-term Schengen visa to the Czech Republic is a maximum of two weeks. But this is the deadline specified by law. In practice, visa permits are issued much earlier

. Residents of the largest cities in the Russian Federation that have Czech consulates receive the fastest response to their application.

Residents of the Russian capital can also obtain a Schengen visa to the Czech Republic in the shortest possible time.

But applicants for a national long-term visa should prepare for a longer and more careful consideration of their application. For this reason, it will take about a month to wait for the documents to be issued.

How to track readiness

There are three options to find out about the readiness of documents for departure: personally visit the organization where you submitted the application, find out everything by phone and check via the Internet.

The first method is the most expensive and time-consuming, especially if you need to travel far. To obtain the necessary information, you should have an internal passport and a paid check with you

. If the applicant cannot appear in person, his representative must present a power of attorney with a copy of his passport or documentary evidence of a close relationship with the applicant. Without this, it is impossible to find out any information about a visa, much less obtain one.

A phone call is much more convenient, and you receive the required number from a center employee when submitting documents. However, during the season when consulates and visa centers are very busy, it is not always possible to immediately get an answer by phone. Calls are accepted only on weekdays; the work schedule should be further clarified on the organization’s website or when submitting documents from the center (consulate) staff

. To confirm your identity, you will need to provide the information you entered in the application form.

Step 2. Next, on the main page, find the button “track your application online” or “finish visa readiness” (the names of the links may vary) and go to the page for tracking the status of document review.

Registration on the visa center website

Step 3. Fill out the form that appears on the screen. The top column indicates the registration number indicated in the ICR check that was issued to you after submitting the application

. The number must be in the standard format - FNRU/010101/0123/01, otherwise the system will not accept your request.

Next, you need to enter information about your application.

Step 5. If the data is entered correctly, all you have to do is click the “submit” button and wait for the result. A window with the status of the documents will appear on the screen:

  • application accepted;
  • is pending;
  • documents are ready.

Or like this:

  • application accepted;
  • sent to the embassy;
  • received from the embassy.

The wording may vary slightly between sites, it doesn't really matter. As you progress through the processing stages, checkboxes are placed next to the statuses, so you can immediately see at what stage of consideration your application is. If a visa is refused, a “rejected by embassy” label appears.

You can also pick up a visa in different ways - by going to the visa center yourself or ordering delivery by courier. In the first case, you need to wait for the notification with the date of the visit, which will be sent to you by email

. The second option is more convenient, since you don’t need to go anywhere, and the documents will be delivered straight to your home. The main thing is to immediately check the presence of the necessary stamps and the correctness of the personal data indicated on the visa.

You can check visa violations, as well as find out the number of remaining days on the visa calculator page.

A real estate visa is valid for 3 years.

Production time

Visa processing times may vary. They usually depend on the method of submitting documents, the length of stay abroad, as well as the amount that the applicant can pay for paperwork.

It is important to know

  • Bulgaria, as a rule, issues a single-entry visa as the first visa, and upon subsequent registration issues a multiple-entry visa for 1 year (or more).
  • It is relatively difficult to obtain a business visa (especially a multiple-entry visa).
  • Failures are relatively rare, but they do happen. The most common reasons for refusal.
  • It is possible to enter Bulgaria with a Schengen visa without obtaining a separate Bulgarian visa if you have a double or multiple entry Schengen visa. Bulgaria does not “take away” the number of days the Schengen visa is valid. The main thing is that the Schengen visa is valid for the entire required period of stay in Bulgaria. As is the case with the Schengen countries, you can stay in Bulgaria for no more than 90 days out of every 180 days. If you have used up the days of your possible stay in Schengen on a multiple-entry Schengen visa (for example, you have exhausted the possible 90 days out of 180 days), but your Schengen visa is still valid for some time, then with this visa you can still safely enter Bulgaria and stay there until the last day of validity of the Schengen visa (but no more than 90 days out of every 180 days, of course), since the days spent in Schengen do not in any way affect the days spent in Bulgaria, and vice versa.
  • It is possible to enter Bulgaria with a valid double or multiple entry visa valid for at least 6 months, issued by Croatia, Romania or Cyprus.
