Self-application of a visa to Slovakia: documents, application form, photo requirements

Slovakia, a Slavic country close to the heart of Russian people, will give visiting guests many positive impressions. Here is the highest part of the mountain system of the famous Carpathians - the Tatras. Ski lovers come with pleasure in winter.

Around the thermal springs that Slovakia is rich in, many health resorts have grown up. The cost of staying at balneological and ski resorts is comparatively lower than in other EU countries. At the same time, the quality of service, services, and staff professionalism are at a high European level.

Slovakia has been a member of the European Union since 2014

Ancient historical castles, fortresses that have preserved the architecture and mystery of the Middle Ages are the calling card of the country. No less interesting will be a visit to the capital of the Slovak Republic on the coast of the glorified Danube. Bratislava is unique in its location - the only main city in the world that borders two countries at the same time (Austria, Hungary).

The distant similarity of languages reduces the language barrier to some extent, which makes the stay of Russians here even more comfortable.

Main types of visas

To enter the country you will need a Schengen visa to Slovakia. Classification depending on the length of stay can be reduced to three main types:

  1. Tourist visa. Allowed to stay in the country for no more than 90 days within 180 days;
  2. Transit. Valid for 30 days with the possibility of staying no more than 5 days;
  3. National. Provides continuous residence in the country for up to 1 year.

If the visit is due to the purpose of visiting relatives or friends, a guest visa is issued; recreation, sightseeing – tourist; treatment – medical; solving operational issues of entrepreneurial activity - business visa.

Depending on the number of permitted trips, single-entry visas and multiple-entry visas are allocated (multiple visa for a period of 1, 2 or 5 years). Then you can plan your trip without spending additional time and money on obtaining a permit stamp in your passport.

However, you need to remember that even if you have a multiple-entry visa, you can stay in the country for no more than 90 days during each six months.

To control the number of days during frequent trips in order to avoid violations, it is convenient to use a visa calculator.
