How to get an Indian visa online
When foreign citizens are planning a trip to India for the purpose of tourism, as well as to see relatives, resolve business issues or undergo treatment, they can apply for an e-visa. In this case, the foreign passport must be valid for another six months from the date of departure from India. The passport must contain at least two blank pages. Also, the condition for obtaining an electronic visa will be the availability of round-trip tickets and a certain amount of money to stay in India during the trip. Electronic visa is issued at the following airports:
- Bangalore,
- Varansi,
- Kochi,
- Guy,
- Jaipur,
- Delhi,
- Calcutta,
- Hyderabad,
- Amritsar,
- Lucknow,
- Mumbai,
- Tiruchirapalli.
Russians can stay in India with an e-visa for 30 days.
This type of visa cannot be renewed after its expiration date, nor can it be changed to another type.
Exceptional cases:
- A foreign citizen who entered the country on an e-visa marries an Indian citizen. In this case, an “entry visa” will be issued.
- A foreign citizen acquired an illness during his stay in the country and needs special medical care, and is not physically able to leave the country. In this case, the visa will be changed to “medical”.
An e-visa can be issued no more than twice a year. Such permission cannot be issued to diplomatic representatives and holders of service passports. To obtain an electronic permit, the applicant needs to fill out a form on the website online. Read more about obtaining a visa to India on your own in this article.
The nuances of obtaining a visa to India on your own
- Visa documents are accepted until 16:00;
- application form for a visa to India with elements of, so to speak, “originality”;
- constantly changing requirements for filling out the questionnaire, while I was writing this article, something has already changed;
- the validity period of the visa from the moment of its issuance, i.e. must be completed as close to the trip as possible;
- the minimum visa validity period is 1 month, which can now be selected when filling out the application form (another innovation);
- payment in cash immediately, you need to have the entire amount on hand, cards are not accepted, there are problems with change, the nearest ATM is near the metro;
- They constantly recalculate the cost of obtaining a visa, but on October 1, prices were raised again (now the minimum amount is 3,193 rubles, and 2.5 years ago it was 2 times cheaper - due to the fall in the ruble exchange rate);
- you have to take an extra 1000 rubles, because you never know what you have to pay extra for.
Procedure for submitting documents
If for some reason an online visa to India is not suitable for you (for example, you want to get a multiple-entry visa), entry permission can always be obtained through an accredited partner - a visa center. To do this, you need to fill out a visa application and collect a specific list of documents. We will talk about this in this section of the article.
First, you need to decide on the consular jurisdiction; depending on your place of residence, you can contact the Indian visa center in Moscow or St. Petersburg.
When the consular district has been determined, proceed to filling out the visa application form, this must be done online using the link.
Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee that a visa will be issued, so it is necessary to submit your application in advance.
Once completed, the application form is printed and signed by the applicant. A photograph is pasted into the form. It must meet the following requirements: size 3x4, manufactured no later than 6 months. The following supporting documents must be attached to the visa application:
- International passport;
- A copy of the passport of a Russian citizen;
- Photo;
- Receipt for payment of fees;
- Vehicle ticket;
- Documentary proof of solvency for the duration of your stay in the country (bank statement, certificate of employment, sponsorship letter).
When all the documents have been prepared and the online application has been submitted, you need to visit the visa center at the appointed time and day. When a child under the age of majority goes on a trip, he must have with him a Birth Certificate, a copy of the parents’ visa (if open), as well as written permission from the parents to travel abroad, certified by a notary.
Received applications are transferred to the Consulate and are considered within 5 working days. Citizens can submit visa applications in person or by authorizing a representative by issuing a notarized power of attorney.
India prohibits minors from visiting the country unless accompanied by parents or legal guardians.
