Sponsorship letter to UK for visa
The text of the sponsorship letter for a Schengen visa is allowed to be submitted in the native language - Russian, but it is preferable to have a translation into English. Some consulates refuse to accept only the Russian version.
This can be clarified on the website of the representative office of the country to which you are planning a trip. A form of sponsorship letter for a Schengen visa in English is searched via the Internet or directly on the websites of representative offices of the Schengen countries in the Russian Federation.
In addition, a notarized document gives visa officers more confidence. If the sponsor is not a relative, only a document signed in the presence of a notary has legal force.
These include:
- a photocopy of all completed pages of the passport of the sponsor-citizen of the Russian Federation,
- confirmation of employment and a stable source of income (individual entrepreneurs provide a certificate of registration and registration with the tax authorities),
- certificate or statement from a personal bank account.
The minimum amount of sponsorship earnings varies in each specific case, but usually amounts to 500-600 euros per month. This amount is considered enough to travel abroad.
If such funds are not available, you can ask the bank for data on the movement of funds. All documents must have wet seals and signatures of the relevant persons.
Separately, there are papers confirming the fact of relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate). If the applicant wishes to receive the originals back, copies should be made and certified by a notary.
Some embassies put forward additional requirements for the documents provided. This can be clarified directly at the consulates or visa centers of the countries to which you are planning to travel.
One person can act as a sponsor for several travelers. In this case, the letter is also drawn up in a single version listing all citizens of the Russian Federation who will be sponsored. This is convenient when traveling as a family, where only one person has a stable income.
It is important to know! A sponsorship letter is not required for a Schengen visa for a child under 14 years of age.
If he travels with his parents, then, naturally, the costs fall on mom and dad. And if a minor travels with third parties or with only one of the parents, then a notarized exit permit serves as a guarantee of financial security.
For teenagers over 14 years of age, sponsorship is required. Parents, grandparents, as well as adult brothers and sisters who have sufficient funds in their bank account can act as a guarantor for paying all costs. However, parental permission to travel remains mandatory.
Sponsorship letter in English
In a number of countries - Italy, France, Great Britain - the sponsorship letter must be drawn up either in the native language of the country issuing the visa or in English. There is no need to be afraid of this and there is no need to order a translation from a specialized bureau. You can easily find a sample sponsorship letter for a visa in English on the Internet.
Example in English
I, ***, passport ***, guarantee full financial support to my wife/husband/daughter/son/ect. *** during his/her visit to Italy from *** till ***. Contact phone number ***. Number. Signature.
The application must be filled out using your passport details.
Sample sponsorship letter
We will not dwell in detail on all the certificates for obtaining a Schengen visa; we will consider only those that must be attached to the letter itself. The sponsor must provide:
- Certificate of income from work and personal account statement;
- Photocopy of civil passport;
- A copy of a document confirming relationship.
All certificates must be current at the time of application and contain the signature and seal of the organization. The sponsor's income must be more than 25 thousand rubles per month, and the bank statement must contain the amount based on the calculation that 60 or more euros are needed for each day of the trip.
The following factors should be taken into account in which the document will not take effect and access to the Schengen zone will be naturally closed:
- Presence of false certificates about salary and place of work;
- Lack of official purposes of the trip;
- Vague return guarantee;
- Lack of insurance;
- Criminal prosecution;
- Having debts.
Italy:
- Presence of family ties is mandatory.
- Written language: Italian or English.
- All documents are certified by a notary.
- In addition, you need a certificate from the bank about the movement of the sponsor's accounts over the last three months.
France:
- It is not necessary to travel with a guarantor.
- The letter must be written in French or English.
- Family ties are required.
- The guarantor's income must be at least 40 thousand rubles. per month.
According to the British Embassy, not everyone has sufficient funds to enter the territory of the United Kingdom. This category, as a rule, includes schoolchildren and students, elderly people and housewives, in general, persons without a regular income or the ability to provide proof of their solvency.
Important! If the applicant cannot provide convincing documents, documents will be needed from another person who is ready to become a sponsor and bear all the expenses associated with the foreign citizen’s stay in England.
Sponsorship financial documents are of interest and assessed according to two main parameters:
- the amount of money appearing in them;
- the personality of the sponsor (his logic).
Everything is clear with money. As for the guarantor himself, it would be quite logical for the British when the trip of a minor is paid for by the parents or his legal representatives, of one spouse - by the second, of a pensioner - by adult children. Other categories of sponsors are incomprehensible in the eyes of an Englishman.

How to prepare a sponsorship letter for an England visa in 2021
As you might guess, a particular state may have special requirements for sponsors. The most significant in this regard are:
- France - you can go to this country only if the guarantor receives a salary of more than 40,000 rubles and has 500 € in a bank account plus money at the rate of 50 € per day of the tour;
- Czech Republic - the immigration service of this state requires you to provide a certificate of movements of funds from the sponsor’s account for three months;
- Italy - if a parent acts as a guarantor of travel to this country, the letter can be replaced with a birth certificate, and if the spouse is a document confirming the marriage.
The sponsorship letter is written in free form in Russian or English. Sponsorship letters are not notarized.
The letter is written in the language of the country at whose consulate the visa is requested, if there are separate requirements for this at a particular consulate. You can also attach a translation of the letter if it was originally written in Russian. Today, such requirements are imposed by the consulates of Austria, Australia, Great Britain, the USA, Switzerland, and Thailand. Moreover, the consulates of Australia and Switzerland require a certified translation.
The letter must contain the following information: - name of the consulate; — Full name of the applicant and sponsor; — passport numbers (the applicant has a foreign passport); - relation degree; — travel dates and country/countries of destination. In the letter, the sponsor undertakes to bear all expenses associated with the applicant’s stay in the specified country.
The following must be attached to the sponsorship letter: - a copy of the first page of the sponsor's passport with personal data and photograph; — originals of the account statement and certificate of employment of the sponsor; - a copy of a document confirming relationship.

Drawing up a document for a minor has some nuances. The main thing is that financial guarantee can only be issued by a close relative (one of the parents, guardian). In addition, additional papers will be required:
- permission to travel received from the parents (if the child is traveling with only one mother, father or accompanied by a third party), the document must be certified by a notary;
- a copy of the child's birth certificate.

There are standard situations where applicants provide the British Consulate with a letter of sponsorship for an English visa:
- the child goes on a trip or study to England;
- the spouse fully pays for the trip of his wife and children;
- the employee goes on a business trip, and all expenses are paid by the employer.
Sponsorship documents are reviewed by the British Embassy not only from the perspective of the financial capabilities of the sponsor, but also from the perspective of their ability to act. For obvious reasons, another person has the right to provide financial guarantees to:
- father or mother to their children;
- older siblings;
- husband to wife and wife to husband;
- adult children to their parents;
- employer to his employee.
The sponsor, for his part, is obliged to prepare the following documents:
- A certificate from work, which should indicate the position, date of hire, contact details of the company/enterprise, salary for the last 6-12 months.
- Documents confirming relationship with the applicant: birth/marriage certificate.
- A photocopy of pages 32–33 of the sponsor’s passport.
- The sponsorship letter itself.
- Bank account statement on company letterhead with a stamp.
The applicant must accompany all the listed papers and certificates with a translation or immediately provide documents in English.
To apply for an English visa, a sponsorship letter is drawn up in any form. In the printed text of the sponsorship letter, be sure to include all of the following information:
- Sponsor's full name, passport details and date of birth;
- family relationship with the applicant;
- Full name of the applicant;
- applicant's passport details and date of birth;
- expected dates of travel to England;
- personal signature of the sponsor.
All information that you provide in the sponsorship letter must be correct and true, because sometimes checks and calls from the consulate occur.
You should include a sponsorship letter for a visa in your must-have package of documents:
- to all unemployed citizens - freelancers, housewives
- employed citizens with a salary approaching the subsistence level in the Russian Federation
- pensioners
- students
- minor children.
It is widely believed that a sponsorship letter for a Schengen visa is an alternative to official sources of income. That is, work. In fact, the letter is a substitute for a bank statement, i.e. financial guarantees.
IMPORTANT: if you have a good bank account (from 100,000 rubles), a sponsorship letter is NOT NECESSARY for any of the categories listed above. A sponsor is necessary when a tourist does not have his own funds to stay in another country.
Who can sponsor a Schengen visa?
Not everyone can be an outside guarantor.
In the best case scenario, this is your relative. For example, husband, wife, father, mother, daughter, son, uncle, aunt, etc., with whom you want to document your relationship. This could be a birth certificate or a marriage certificate from the person who sponsors you. In some Schengen countries, it is allowed for the guarantor to be not only a relative. The sponsor can be a solvent Russian citizen who has an official place of work and a good salary. To guarantee, he needs to confirm that he can provide you financially with a certificate of income from his place of work
Attention! A stranger cannot be a sponsor of a minor child.
To be a sponsor, the host must have an income of at least 500 euros per month. If there is an open bank account, then it should contain an average of 60 euros per day of travel. But each participating country has its own limit:
- The embassies of Italy, Germany, and France insist that the guarantor be a relative and not someone else.
- The consulates of Spain, Greece and the Czech Republic are more loyal in this regard. Italy also insists that the sponsor travel with his ward.
If several people are sponsored, the amount is accordingly multiplied by their number. As a rule, you need to provide these types of expenses for accommodation, travel, food, treatment if necessary.
An organization can also be a guarantor. As a rule, this is an educational institution or a company that provides work. For sponsorship, you must show a certificate of registration and activity of the company.
Sponsorship letter for a Schengen visa: sample in Russian and English
Different countries have different rules regarding who can act as a sponsor. Visa centers in Italy , France and Germany insist on a mandatory relationship between the sponsor and the applicant.
Spain, Greece, the Czech Republic are more loyal: any person with financial capabilities, including NOT a relative, can become a sponsor.
The UK considers as a sponsor the organization, relatives and friends of the visa applicant, who will also be in the country during his stay in GB.
How to write a sponsorship letter? The application is made in free form and printed. The sponsor signs personally. Before writing a letter, you need to check on the website of the visa center of a particular country in which language they accept documents for consideration.
General points that should be reflected in a sponsorship letter:
- Sponsor's full name and passport details
- A phrase about readiness to pay all expenses for the upcoming trip
- Destination country
- Travel dates
- Full name and passport details of the sponsored person
- Date of sponsorship letter
- Sponsor's signature
Does a letter from a sponsor need to be notarized? No no need. Schengen countries do not put forward such requirements for the document.
In addition to the sponsorship letter for a visa, the 2021 sample of which is presented above, the sponsor must provide the following attachments to the visa center:
- Certificate of employment on the official letterhead of the organization, indicating the position and salary level
- bank account statement for the last 3 months
- copy of passport
- document confirming relationship with the sponsored person (birth certificate, marriage certificate), if required
Despite the common visa control area, the policies of different EU countries regarding requirements for sponsors differ.
