How to prepare a visa to Lithuania from Kaliningrad

Since thirty years ago Lithuania and Kaliningrad were part of the Soviet Union, citizens living in the territory of modern Russia did not need to fill out any special papers to visit these two regions.

Today the situation looks completely different: contacting the Lithuanian consulate is necessary not only when planning a trip to the republic itself, but also in case of leaving the enclave with the aim of arriving in the rest of the Russian Federation.

The Kaliningrad region is separated from “greater” Russia by a number of member states of the European Union, and therefore not all Russians know how to properly start traveling from this region. The largest number of questions are related to the visa of the Republic of Lithuania, the only state in the Schengen area, which is located between Russia and the former Königsberg.

The type of document giving the right to stay on the territory of Lithuania depends on the tourist’s goals: whether he plans to simply transit through this state or intends to stay in the Baltic country for an extended period. The article will tell you what it is like to obtain a visa to Lithuania from Kaliningrad.

  3. A birth certificate and a certificate from an educational institution (if any) are required;
  4. In Lithuania, as in other Schengen countries, you need a power of attorney from the second parent in the name of the one accompanying the minor;
  5. If a child will travel accompanied by another relative, as a member of a sports team, or cross the border with an accompanying person, then a power of attorney is needed from both parents.

Transit through Lithuania

  1. International passport;
  2. Copy of internal passport;
  3. Photo;

  1. Medical insurance;
  2. Vehicle registration certificate;
  3. International driving license;
  4. International "motor citizen".

For transit by train, UTD Railways is required. They are issued by consular officers directly on the train traveling from Russia to Kaliningrad or back.
