Do citizens of the CIS and Ukraine need a visa to the Czech Republic?

For citizens of CIS countries to enter European countries, just like Russians, they need to obtain a Schengen visa. The conditions for obtaining are the same - for a short-term trip you will need a category C visa.

Visa-free entry for citizens of Ukraine. The exception is Ukrainians. Citizens of Ukraine who have biometric passports can make short-term trips to the Schengen area without issuing entry documents. To cross the border, it is enough to have booked or paid for hotel rooms, a return ticket and the required amount of money for a business trip or tour of Europe. If you do not have a biometric passport, you will also have to obtain a category C visa.

Applying for a visa yourself

Documents for visa applications are accepted both at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic and at accredited Visa Centers. In the latter case, all applicants, regardless of age, pay an additional service fee of 22 EUR (equivalent in RUB). Prices on the page are for March 2021.

Long-term visas can only be obtained at the consulate.

You need to schedule a visit to the consulate or visa center no earlier than 3 months before your trip and no later than 30 days. To apply for a multiple-entry visa, you must make an appointment by phone in advance. The applicant brings with him a full package of documents, pays consular and visa fees on the spot and submits fingerprints.

The official period for obtaining a visa is from 5 days, but in some cases the period can take up to a month.

1. Application Form

10. Ticket booking

What do you need to apply for a visa to the Czech Republic? Documentation.

• international passport. In addition to its original, you will need a photocopy of the first page. The validity period of this document must exceed the period of the received visa by at least 90 days. It is also required that at least two pages of the passport be free from stamps;
• If a foreigner changes his last name, he must replace the document within 1 month. Otherwise it will be considered invalid. If children are included in the document, their photographs will be required;
• paper containing confirmation of the purpose of stay in the country. This may be an original, a copy of an email or a fax;
• if this is a business trip, you will have to present an invitation sent by a partner located in the Czech Republic, as well as documentation of the inviting company certified by the local police;
• if a foreigner wants to travel to the country for treatment, a letter from the hospital will be required stating that the patient needs care and treatment. You will also need to provide a doctor’s report and the estimated cost of therapy;
• To arrive for tourism purposes, evidence of a hotel reservation or a voucher must be provided. Proof of financial support is required. This must be the original, received by the foreigner no later than 3 months ago. In this case, it may be a certificate from the place of employment, which indicates the salary or a document in form 2-NDFL. It is also permissible to provide an extract from your current bank account, which has accumulated the necessary amount of funds for approval of the trip. The document must bear the signature and seal of a bank employee. Also, as confirmation, you can provide traveler's checks, where the owner is indicated, and there is a receipt for their purchase.

Important nuances

When the payment for the trip is not made by the foreigner himself, it is worth providing a sponsorship letter on behalf of the person who will make all the money transfers. Attached is a copy of the first page of the Russian citizen's passport.

This letter can be written in free form. Next, you can start preparing documents about your relationship with this sponsor. This could be a birth certificate, marriage certificate or other similar documentation.

Note!

If the trip lasts 30 days, the foreigner must have at least 1100 crowns at his disposal for 1 day.
If we are talking about 90 days of travel, you will need 38,380 CZK. If children under 18 years of age are traveling with a foreigner, half of this amount is enough for them. Each Russian will also be forced to pay a visa fee, namely 35 euros. Speaking of the cost of an express visa, it costs 70 euros, and is issued free of charge for children under six years of age. The price for a long-term visa is CZK 2,500.

Preparation of documents for children under 18 years of age

If children under 18 years of age are traveling to the Czech Republic, parents should take care of collecting the following package of documents:

• a copy of the birth certificate;
• certificate from the place of study;
• if children and parents are registered at different times, it is necessary to provide their Schengen visa or a copy of a valid one;
• exit permit certified by a notary. This will be required if a minor child must obtain a visa alone.

Do not forget that a child may be denied a visa to the Czech Republic. If it has already been previously obtained, permission may be revoked. This happens when the documentation on the basis of which it was obtained does not correspond to reality, so parents will have to be extremely careful and not try to deceive the consulate.

Registration of visas for children

When applying for a visa to the Czech Republic for children, you will need a number of additional documents: a copy of the birth certificate; a copy of the Schengen visa of the accompanying parent, if he already has one; notarized consent of parents or legal guardians if the minor is traveling to the Czech Republic with one of the parents or accompanied by a third party. Also, from February 2021, children are required to submit a foreign passport, no more than five years have passed from the date of issue. If the photo in the passport does not match the appearance of the child, a visa may not be issued.

Since children are not allowed to travel alone, you can arrange to be accompanied by an airline employee during the flight - in this case, parental consent will also be required. In addition, you need to provide a letter of guarantee, which confirms that they will bear all costs.

Photo requirements

The photo for the visa must be of high quality, free of dirt and clear, and taken no earlier than six months ago. The shoulders and crown of the head should be visible. It is necessary that the applicant's gaze is directed directly into the lens; distortion of the color of skin, eyes and hair is not allowed. Hair should not cover the face; smiling with a closed mouth is allowed. There should be no shadows, glare, or red-eye effect, the image should be strictly frontal, the facial expression should be neutral. They are photographed for a visa with their head uncovered, unless the person wears a head covering for religious reasons, but even in this case the face must be uncovered.

The length of the head from the chin to the crown is approximately 30 mm (70-80% of the area). The photo is taken from the front, the gaze is directed at the camera, there is no smile.

Those who wear glasses leave them on, provided they do not cover the eyes or create glare. It is better to remove heavy and too original frames.

Only one person can be present in the frame; there should be no foreign objects. Even babies are photographed without adults.

Consular fee – 35 €

The consular fee for a standard speed visa is 35 EUR, for an urgent one - 70 EUR. When submitting documents to the consulate, it is paid in cash in euros, only clean, not crumpled or torn banknotes are allowed, coins are not accepted, money must be prepared in advance and without change. Children under 6 years of age, close relatives of EU citizens and Russian citizens legally residing in the Czech Republic, disabled people, persons traveling for humanitarian purposes, students, if the purpose of stay is education, as well as members of official delegations are exempt from payment.

What visa is required to move to the Czech Republic?

Before you find out what documents are needed to obtain a visa to the Czech Republic, you need to understand the types of permits that are suitable for a particular situation. At the moment, to enter the country, Russians can apply for 2 types of visas: long-term (D) and short-term, urgent visa (C). Each of them has its own conditions, and each requires certain documents.

Long-term visa

In order to decide which visa is needed to travel to the Czech Republic, you should clearly define the length of your stay in the country; this is the main difference between a long-term visa and a short-term one. A category “D” permit will allow a foreigner to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days, but not more than six months within one calendar year.

It is often used in training programs, student exchanges or treatment courses. To obtain this visa, a Russian will have to contact the Czech consulate. You will have to be present in person when submitting your application. Next, you will need to go through an interview, which is always conducted only in Czech, so it is advisable for a person to immediately take care of having an interpreter.

Short stay visa

Category “C” will allow a foreigner to stay on the territory of the Republic and other Schengen countries for a maximum of 90 days within 6 months from the moment of crossing the border. This type of visa can be issued for a period of no more than 5 years. This type of permit can be multiple or single. On the basis of a one-time permit, a Russian will be able to exercise the right of entry in accordance with pre-established dates indicated on the visa.

Note!

In most cases, the permit will provide for the addition of another 15 days to the period originally requested. If for any reason a foreigner decides to reschedule the trip, but the mandatory condition - 3 months in 180 days - will not change.

When receiving a multiple-entry visa, a Russian will have the right to an unlimited number of exits and entries into the country throughout the entire validity period, provided that the total stay does not exceed 3 months, then it will be possible not to re-issue the visa. A multiple entry visa can be obtained on the following grounds:

1. If a foreigner has good reasons for regular trips in both directions. This is mainly due to business trips or justified family circumstances.
2. If you have several Schengen visas. When submitting, the foreigner must present photocopies of them, but only if they are not in the passport.
3. Based on confirmation of your financial well-being and lack of intentions to leave your home country. In both cases, it is worth carefully monitoring the number of days spent in the country. Also, do not forget that this also applies to stay in other Schengen states.

If a foreigner violates these rules, in the future the consulate will have every reason not to let him into the country due to the risk of repeat violation. If a Russian citizen received a visa at the Czech consulate, it is advisable to make the first flight to this Republic. In the future, this will avoid unwanted problems with acquiring a new visa.

Visa validity periods

A tourist visa to the Czech Republic is valid on the principle of 90 days out of 180, which means that a person has the right to stay in the Schengen area for three months within six months.
