The first thing every traveler who decides to visit the Thai state should understand is that the import of narcotic substances into Thailand is strictly prohibited. According to the law of the state, those who violate this prohibition are subject to the death penalty. History knows many situations where tourists paid with their lives for violating this point of Thai law.
If you decide to travel to the Indochina Peninsula, do your research on what you can and cannot bring into Thailand. Since you are not going to the country forever, it would also be useful to know what you cannot take out of Thailand. The knowledge gained will help you spend a happy, cloudless vacation on the warm coast and return home in a great mood.

Rules for importing currency into Thailand
The import of the national currency of Thailand (baht) is unlimited.
When importing foreign currency in an amount of more than 20,000 US dollars, or the equivalent of this amount in other currencies, you must indicate this amount in the declaration for customs control.
Export of national currency from Thailand is possible in an amount of no more than 50,000 baht, with the exception of Cambodia, Myanmar (Burma), Laos and Vietnam, to these countries you can export national currency in an amount of up to 500,000 baht.
The export of other currencies from Thailand is possible without restrictions. When exporting foreign currency in an amount of more than 20,000 US dollars or the equivalent of this amount in other currencies, you must indicate this amount in the declaration for customs control.
Verification procedure
Clearing customs in Thailand is fairly quick. Especially if the tourist does not have things to include in the declaration. But this does not mean that luggage is not checked in the Green Channel zone. The check can be carried out on any passenger and there is nothing strange here.
Also, each visitor is required to fill out an immigration card, indicating basic information about himself. One document is taken by the customs officer, the second remains with the tourist. If a passenger has goods to declare, his luggage will be checked very carefully.
How to go through customs control?
Customs control is carried out when crossing state borders. This is done twice: when leaving one country and when entering another.
Choose between the green or red corridor. At customs you will see two corridors. If things need to be declared or you decide to do it at your own discretion, go to the red corridor. If there is nothing to declare, go to green. By choosing the green corridor, you automatically confirm that you do not have things that must be declared: this can be checked.
Take what you need. Customs of any country will not find fault with an adequate amount of personal belongings: you can absolutely legally import a suitcase of clothes, a smartphone, a tablet, skis, a guitar or a portable speaker. The main thing is that everything is in volumes for personal use: one phone - no questions asked, for a second brand new iPhone you may have to pay a fee.
Declare your valuables right away. If you take expensive items on vacation, declare them when leaving Russia and entering another country: then on the way back, customs officers will not think that you bought them on a trip and will not impose a duty.
Check your medications before traveling. Carry as much medicine as you need for your trip. In theory, customs may ask for recipes, but in practice this rarely happens. If the medications contain psychotropic, narcotic or potent substances, be sure to take a prescription or a doctor’s certificate confirming that you were actually prescribed them in such quantities.
Find out about restrictions in advance. Art and antiques, weapons, plants and animals are restricted from import and export, meaning you will need additional documents and sometimes permits. Some things are completely prohibited from being transported across borders, for example, certain types of weapons and medicines, fake brands. Before traveling, check what you can and cannot carry with official sources from the country you want to travel with.
If you have nothing to declare, then go through customs control through the green corridor.
If you have something to declare, then go through customs control through the red corridor.
If you don’t know whether you have something that needs to be declared or not, then it’s better to go to the red corridor.
