From May 28, 2014, you can send a package of documents yourself online or through one of the visa centers.

ONLINE SUBMISSION

Online submission is the most convenient way to obtain a Canadian visa. If you missed something, the system simply will not allow you to move on to the next stage. An incorrectly filled field will be marked in red, making it easy for you to find the error.

Forms must be completed electronically, saved, printed, signed and scanned. All documents that you will attach to your application must be scanned.

There is no need to submit a visa application now! It must be sent only along with a complete package of documents. An incomplete package of documents will be returned to you without consideration.

Payment of the Consular fee

Payment must be made online using a bank card. Payment confirmation must be printed, scanned and attached to all other documents.

In case of incomplete payment, the application with all accompanying documents will be returned to the applicant. In case of visa refusal, the visa fee is not refundable

Sending documents online

When submitting online, all necessary documents except the passport are sent in scanned form along with the application form and confirmation of payment of the consular fee.

Before sending your application package by mail, make sure that all forms and related documents are arranged in the order they are listed on the appropriate form.

Waiting for a letter from the Consulate confirming the consideration of the application

This usually takes 3 weeks. If the application is accepted, the letter contains instructions to send your passport for a visa.

For security reasons, it is not permitted to bring into the Visa Application Center: any electronic devices: cameras, audio and video cassettes, CDs, MP3 players, floppy disks, laptops and portable music players; any bags: travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather/jute/textile bags and folders with a zipper. You are only allowed to bring in a plastic bag containing your visa application documents; sealed envelopes and packaging; any flammable items: matches, lighters, fuel, etc.; any sharp objects such as scissors, penknives and nail files; weapons, objects that look like weapons, and any explosive materials.

The Visa Application Center does not have storage facilities for prohibited items; If the applicant is found to have any of the above items, he may be denied access to the Visa Application Center.

Waiting for a visa

Within two working days after receiving your documents, the Canada Visa Application Center will send a message to your email address with a unique identification number assigned to your dossier.

Using this number you can track the status of your application on the Visa Application Center website.

Receiving a passport

You can pick up your passport back either at your Visa Application Center or order delivery by courier to your home. By proxy, any third party can receive your passport.

Do Russians need a visa to Canada?

Obtaining a study permit in Canada

This letter is not a study permit, but you must take it with you to show it to immigration officials at your port of entry into Canada to obtain your study permit.

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Attention!

The Visa Office will not accept additional documents sent after a visa application has been submitted unless requested by the visa officer in a formal request. Documents sent on your own initiative to the Visa Department will not be considered.

All documents must be in English or French. The translation must be completed by a professional translator and certified by the agency providing translation services, or made on the letterhead of such an agency. Notarization of the translation is not required. The transfer cannot be made by the applicant or his family members.

Note 1

If you want to travel to Canada with your family:

• fill out a visa application for each family member as an accompanying person
• marriage certificate for your spouse. If the marriage is not registered, then the Declaration of Civil Marriage Form IMM 5409 (Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union).
• birth certificates for children

Certificate(s) from work indicating income, position, salary. It is good to mention in the certificate how long the employee has been working there and write information about leave for a trip to Canada. A business card and advertising brochures of the enterprise, a letter with a brief description of the activities of the enterprise, the year of creation, etc. would be useful.

All applications are initially considered by the Consulate as applications for multiple-entry visas. However, obtaining a multiple-entry visa valid for several years is possible:

• with solid financial guarantees
• if you have a previous trip to Canada

Please note that the validity of a temporary resident visa, study permit or work permit cannot exceed the validity of your passport.

For unemployed applicants, financial guarantees must be provided by a sponsor. The visa application must be accompanied by a letter of sponsorship, a birth certificate (if the sponsor is a parent), or a letter explaining the reason for the sponsorship.

The sponsor must prove the availability of funds to pay for the trip: an account statement or a certificate from work.

Additionally, you can attach documents confirming the availability of bank accounts or property of the Applicant himself.

If the sponsor is your father, then you can also attach a certificate from your mother’s work.

Reasons for refusals

Canada has long been, and with good reason, considered one of the most disloyal countries to tourists - the probability of obtaining a visa is 50%, registration takes months, the list of documents is impressive, the Embassy often requests additional papers.
