The problem of obtaining a residence permit in Crimea in 2021

The sensational situation with the Crimean peninsula, which passed into the possession of Russia, makes many Ukrainian citizens think about how to obtain a residence permit in Crimea. The fact is that all residents of the peninsula automatically became Russians after the annexation of the peninsula and have already managed to obtain new passports.

But there are those who would like to remain citizens of Ukraine, and they are confused. They don’t want to leave their homes, but they would also like to keep their citizenship, but they cannot live and work in what is now Russia. In this connection, they are required to prepare the necessary documents (TRP, residence permit).

For this reason, there is a long queue of those who need a residence permit in 2021. But Russia, according to the law, does not have the ability to issue a residence permit in Crimea to everyone, since there are certain limits. A huge number of residents of the peninsula and other foreign citizens who need to obtain permission exceeds the annual quotas for government services for issuing residence permits.

Citizens of Ukraine who are not registered on its territory, as well as persons who do not have citizenship at all, apply for a residence permit in large numbers. As a result, many have to go to court to prove their origin and right to obtain a permit.

Last year, the government allocated a little more than 5,000 quotas for foreign citizens wishing to obtain a residence permit in this region of Russia. Despite the fact that this number includes stateless persons, Ukrainians and all other foreigners wishing to settle in Crimea. Consequently, obtaining a residence permit is very problematic, since many people need it. However, you should collect the necessary documents and wait your turn.

Who can apply for a residence permit?

A foreign citizen who wants to apply for a residence permit wonders whether he can do this or are there any restrictions? There are no prohibitions as such. A citizen of any country, age and social status can apply for a residence permit. But this requires reasons. For example, a foreign citizen must have close relatives who are citizens of the Russian Federation, or he himself must have a registered temporary residence permit.

There are no quotas for residence permits. Any citizen with a reason or temporary residence permit has the right to apply for a residence permit.

Notification of confirmation of residence in the Russian Federation with a residence permit

The requirement for a foreign citizen to provide other documents or other information other than those to be included in the specified notification is not allowed. The following information is included in this notification: 1) the name of the foreign citizen permanently residing in the Russian Federation, including his last name, first name, patronymic (the latter - if available); 2) place of residence of the foreign citizen; 3) place (places) of work and duration of work activity by this foreign citizen during the next year from the date of receipt of his residence permit; 4) the period of stay of this foreign citizen outside the Russian Federation during the next year from the date he received a residence permit (indicating the countries of departure); 5) the amount and sources of income of this foreign citizen for the next year from the date of receipt of his residence permit.

Please note that after submitting the notification, you must still have a tear-off coupon filled out by an employee of the migration department. It must indicate your initials, details of your identification document, the authority where you submitted the notification, the position of the employee who accepted it, the date, signature and seal. Please ensure that all items on this form are completed.
