Types of visas to Poland

The choice of the type of permit mark is determined by:

  • purpose of the trip;
  • desired length of stay.

There are several types of visas to the country.

Tourist

For tourists who want to visit Poland for excursion purposes or to see relatives, they will need a tourist visa. In official language it is called Type C and is issued for 90 days. This visa is Schengen, therefore it is issued according to general European rules.

Tourist visa to Poland

Working

Employment in Poland is possible with a work visa. It is always only national, that is, type D. You can work with it only in Poland, but not in other Schengen states.

The permit is issued for 6 months or 1 year. But in the second case, the applicant will not necessarily be allowed to work in the country for all 365 days. Sometimes the visa is valid for 12 months, but the employment period is only 6.

Long-term multiple visa

A long-term visa is also type D, that is, it is national. It can be multiple times. This means that during the validity period of the mark, the passport holder has the right to leave the republic and return there more than once.

Long-term visas are issued for a period of over 90 days, but not more than 1 year. It makes sense to apply for it for those who go to Poland to work, study, and subsequently obtain a residence permit. Type D also gives you the right to stay in other Schengen states for a period of up to 3 months. The opportunity is provided during the 1st half of the year.

Transit

If you need to travel through Poland to another country, choose a transit visa. It allows the owner to stay there for more than 24 hours in order to transfer to another transport for further travel. This permitting mark is required:

  • if the traveler travels further through Poland not to the Schengen zone;
  • if he intends to leave the international territory of the airport during his stay in the country.

Sometimes a transit mark is not needed. Those who do without it:

  • has a Schengen visa issued in another country;
  • will stay in Poland for up to 24 hours without leaving the international area of the airport.

Do Russians need a visa to Poland in 2021?

Its favorable location in the center of Europe and rich historical heritage make Poland attractive for tourist travel. Poles treat architectural monuments with care, which is why many palaces and castles, including medieval ones, have been preserved here.

Tourists from all over the world come to admire them, and Russians make up a significant part of them. Those who are tired of beach holidays in Turkey and Egypt come here. It is from Poland that many people begin to get acquainted with the EU, because this country is close to Russia both territorially and in mentality.

Poles are very fond of entertainment, so they regularly organize music, history, theater and other festivals.

Well, Christmas markets are some of the best in Europe. Almost at any time of the year in Poland there is entertainment for both intellectuals and those who simply want to have fun. Territorial proximity and affordable prices, compared to other EU countries, attract Russian applicants to Poland.

There are many educational institutions with a century-old history and a modern approach to education. Young people can get a bachelor’s degree in just 3 years (4 for engineering specialties) and continue their studies at a Polish or other European university. With a Polish diploma, getting a job in Europe is much easier than with a Russian one.

Medical tourism is also not in last place. Neurosurgery, cardiology, oncology, plastic surgery and other medical fields are well developed in Poland.

Those who want to receive not only European treatment, but also excellent service come here.

Russians, regardless of the purpose of their trip, cannot enter Poland without a visa in 2021. Even residents of the Kaliningrad region, who just a few years ago traveled to the Poles under a simplified system for weekends or shopping, are forced to apply for visas.

Main types of visas

Poland, being a member of the Schengen Agreement, issues national and Schengen visas. National (type D) give the right to reside continuously on Polish territory for a long time. They are requested for study, work, reunion with relatives.

For a short-term visit, a Schengen visa to Poland is intended, which can be transit (type A) or regular (type C). A transit pass is issued for 1 day for a transfer at the airport or up to 5 days for crossing Polish territory by land.

Schengen visa type C allows you to stay in Poland for up to 90 days within 6 months (180 days) and visit other EU countries.

Many Russians try to obtain a multiple entry permit in order to save time and money required for each paperwork.

How much does a visa cost?

The cost of a Polish visa depends on its type and the application method chosen. For example, the consular fee for processing documents for a Schengen visa is standard for all EU countries: 35 € for Russians and 60 € for citizens of other countries.

Urgent visa processing for Russians will cost 70 €. The Poles exempt close relatives of EU citizens, children under 6 years of age, pupils and students (if they are going to study and not have fun) and some other categories of applicants from paying the consular fee.

The consular fee for a national Polish visa is 60 €. It does not depend on citizenship or purpose of travel. A national visa is issued free of charge to holders of the Pole Card.

Payment at the consular section is accepted in euros, but visa centers prefer rubles at the exchange rate. When applying to the CC, in addition to the consular fee, you also need to pay a service fee. It is 19.5-23 € and depends on the region where the visa is located

Features of entry for residents of the Kaliningrad region

For Russians permanently living in Kaliningrad or the region, it is possible to obtain a simplified permit to enter Poland - MPP. It gives the right to visit only the border cities of the republic.

Receipt is subject to the fulfillment of a number of conditions:

  • the applicant must have lived in Kaliningrad or the region for at least 3 years and be registered there;
  • for one visit he can stay in Poland for up to 30 days;
  • You only need to travel by land;
  • To apply, you must have a foreign passport with a validity period of at least 7 months, a certificate from your place of residence, and write an application;
  • a fee of 20 euros must be paid if the applicant is over 16 but under 65 years old, he is not a disabled person of the 1st or 2nd group and is not accompanying a disabled person.

Independent registration through the Consulate

You can obtain a permit stamp (national or Schengen) through the Consular Section of the Embassy by taking the following steps:

  1. Make an appointment to submit documents on the website. You need to select a country (Russian Federation) and a city (Moscow), and then start processing, going here to apply for a Schengen stamp, or to this address for a national one.
  2. Fill out an application. This is done here if the visa is national, and using this link to apply for a Schengen visa.
  3. Print it, sign it and attach it to the rest of the documents. All this must be taken to the Consular Section on the appointed day.
  4. Pay the mandatory fee. The amount depends on the type of visa and the identity of the applicant (some do not pay money for registration).
  5. Go through the biometrics procedure. It is required for travelers over 12 years old.
  6. Wait for the Embassy's decision. This takes several days. A department employee may require additional documents.
  7. Pick up your passport. You can find out about its readiness by phone or simply come to the department after the time allotted for registration.

Our mediation in issuing a visa to Poland

The most rational solution is to act through experienced service center managers. The advantages are obvious: they thoroughly know all the current requirements and rules for drawing up documents. The price difference is small, but you can save time and effort.

What are your steps if you apply for a visa through the VC?

  • You are visiting the official website of the VC.
  • Create a request by filling out the template.
  • VC employees will call you back or respond by mail to clarify your plans.
  • You create a package of papers and transfer it either through a courier, or by mail, or in person, and also pay for the service.
  • The center's staff verifies your dossier, checks it to ensure it meets all standards, and registers you for a visit to the consular section.
  • You may need to come to the consulate or CC to leave your fingerprints (if this has not been done in the last 3 years).
  • After 5-7 days, your passport with visa permission will be returned to you. You will receive it either yourself, or the courier will deliver the document to you.

Contacting the visa center

Only a Schengen stamp in a foreign passport for a trip to Poland through VFS GLOBAL can be obtained as follows:

  1. make an appointment to schedule a visit by calling 703 49 54, 704 3683;
  2. fill out the consent to the processing of personal data here;
  3. fill out a form in Russian or Polish (you can use help with this when visiting the center for 400 rubles);
  4. collect documents and bring them to the center on the appointed day;
  5. submit fingerprints and take a digital photo;
  6. pay the fee and the cost of additional services if they want to use them;
  7. await a decision by checking your application status here;
  8. They pick up their passport at the visa center, or it is brought by a courier.

How much do the services of the Polish CC cost?

Poland Visa Center in Moscow
In addition to the visa fee of 35 euros, which is transferred to Polish diplomats, those who apply to the VFS GLOBAL VC pay a service fee. In the Moscow center the fee is 11.19 euros.

Payment of visa and service fees at the VFS GLOBAL CC is made only in cash, in rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate.

In addition to fees at the Poland Exhibition Center, you can pay for additional services:

  • for 15 euros online document verification and expedited service in the center;
  • for 400 rub. filling out a form;
  • for 70-120 euros “Premium service”.

At the visa center you can also buy medical insurance, without which visa documents will simply not be accepted. However, it is better to insure yourself in advance so that you can choose the best option.

The specialized online insurance service Cherehapa allows you to obtain insurance to any country in the world “without leaving your home.”

What to consider when traveling by car

Traveling to the republic in your own car is processed in the same way as traveling by train or plane. But you definitely need to have international car insurance and take the documents for the car with you. If we are talking about transit through the country, the trip is unlikely to be completed within 24 hours. Therefore, you should apply for a regular Schengen stamp or travel from an existing zone issued in another state. In this case, Polish border guards will stamp your passport with a badge in the shape of a car.

Visa to Poland on your own - we travel by car

Very often, our fellow citizens decide to travel to Poland by personal transport: the distance is very short, such a trip is more interesting and richer in impressions. In addition, this is the shortest European transit.

Traveling by car is no different from traveling by other means of transport. You will also need Schengen type C, as for other trips to European countries. And the registration procedure is similar.

Transit in Poland is allowed if you have another Schengen visa. Yes, sometimes issues arise at the border, but they can be resolved. Which is rather a tribute to the current political situation.

When crossing the Polish border by car, you receive a stamp depicting the car, reflecting the method of arrival into the country.

Traveling with children and obtaining a visa

Even for an infant, if you want to travel to Poland, you need to get an entry permit stamp for him. A standard list of documents is submitted for children, and in addition:

  • birth certificate;
  • if one of the parents remains in Russia, then his consent to leave, issued by a notary;
  • copies of the pages of the mother’s and father’s foreign passports with marks when a visa for the child is issued separately.

Children over 12 years old must undergo a biometrics procedure. Therefore, their presence when submitting documents is mandatory. But the forms for minors are filled out by parents.

Additional services

At the Poland visa center, citizens can receive a number of additional services. They are paid separately and are not mandatory. Additional services are not a guarantee of obtaining a visa, but can make the process of obtaining it easier.

The following services are available:

  • filling out a visa application form – 200 rubles;
  • photo for documents – 200 rubles;
  • SMS notification – 85 or 100 rubles for 3 SMS;
  • making copies of documents – 10 rubles per page;
  • insurance policy - according to the insurer's tariffs;
  • delivery of papers by courier - according to the tariffs of the Fox Express organization;
  • premium service – 35 euros for 1 person or 100 euros for a family (two plus two).

You can find out more information, view the list of documents for the required type of visa and track its readiness on the official website of the visa center.

Documents for a Polish visa in Moscow

To obtain a Polish visa in Moscow you must submit:

  • a foreign passport valid for at least six months after returning home and copies of its main pages;

  • photocopies of sheets of a Russian document, where personal data and registration address are indicated, there are stamps about marriage, divorce, information about children;
  • completed application form;
  • photo size 35 by 45 mm;
  • previous passports;
  • documents informing about the financial condition of the applicant (an account statement can be obtained from a bank, a certificate of income - at work or from the Tax Service, information about real estate and other property - from Rosreestr);
  • a medical policy valid in Schengen countries for a minimum amount of 30 thousand euros;
  • a copy of the pension certificate if the applicant is a pensioner;
  • a certificate from the university if a student is traveling;
  • for the two previous categories, information about who is paying for the trip is required (a copy of his passport, a letter of sponsorship, information about his financial situation);
  • certificate of registration of a company in the Russian Federation, if the visa applicant is a private entrepreneur.

If you are traveling for the first time, you must be fingerprinted and take a digital photo. Both procedures are performed at the Embassy or visa center. To organize a trip yourself, you must explain its purpose by presenting:

  • hotel reservation, which indicates the personal data of the applicant, period of stay, address and telephone number of the hotel (required for tourists);
  • a copy of the return ticket or confirmation of its order;
  • a certificate from a Polish university about enrollment, if a person is going to study, a document about the fee for this, a document about the availability of funds for living for at least 3 months;
  • confirmation of employment by a Polish company and a certificate of its registration in the country;
  • a document from the clinic for those going for treatment, and a certificate of payment for the service.

Visa permission at the Poland Visa Application Center, reviews

To all that has been said, we add that the Poles are not particularly friendly towards Russian travelers, and this does not apply to visa policy alone. Although there is nothing complicated in the procedure for issuing Polish visas - it is the same as when issuing visas to other Schengen states, there may well be pitfalls.

  • Thus, there are requirements that are not entirely understandable: an obligatory stamp of the hotel on the booking document, a 50% payment for housing.
  • As our tourists write, when our fellow citizens independently apply, the Polish side gives quite frequent refusals. Statistics show that the percentage of refusals among Poles is higher, compared, for example, with the French and Spaniards.

Independent tourists claim that the Polish Consulate is more scrupulous regarding incorrect filling out of papers and often requires additional evidence of reliability and solvency.

In other words, the reviews give rise to the feeling that applying for a Polish visa yourself is a long and complicated story. In principle, the degree of complexity is similar to obtaining a visa permit to Estonia or, for example, Lithuania. The Baltics did not and do not treat representatives of our country easily, which is why the registration and formation of a personal dossier is an important stage on which the successful outcome of the case depends.

Application form for a visa to Poland: how to fill out the form correctly

The application form for a visa to Poland can be filled out in Polish or Russian, but in the second case, some of the information is entered in Latin characters. The form can be obtained from the service center or the Consular Section. But it is better to issue it electronically on the website of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There you can correct errors, then save and print the document.

An example of how to fill out a form for a Schengen mark can be found here. This is an example of a document in Russian.

The form must be signed before submission and a photo must be pasted on the first page in the upper right corner.

Watch this video on how to fill out an application for a visa to Poland:

Time spent in Poland

An important aspect is the validity period of visa permits. In the European Union, the officially recognized period of validity of a Schengen visa is considered to be 6 months. As for the national one, it’s 12 months. Length of stay: for a Schengen visa – 90 days, for a national visa – six months.

Polish multi-Schengen for a long period

There is an unspoken rule: when an applicant has previously opened at least two Schengen visas from any country, he can be granted a multi-Schengen visa from Poland. And its validity period is 2 years.

However, it is important to remember that in this situation the longest period of stay on Polish territory is still 3 months every six months. At the same time, the applicant can move freely throughout European countries for all 2 years.

Of course, this is a pleasant bonus, but it does not always “work” - it is difficult to accurately predict the decision of the consular services. Therefore, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared for any outcome.

Photo requirements

The applicant's photo must meet the following conditions:

  • size 35 by 45 mm;
  • the head is in the center and occupies 70% of the photo;
  • light background;
  • there should be no headdress (this is mandatory regardless of religious or other considerations);
  • it is desirable that the ears are open;
  • Glasses are only allowed for those who have been told not to take them off by their doctor.

Standard photo processing for a visa to Poland

All Schengen visas have the same standard.

Requirements for printing photos are:

  • Parameters - 35 by 45 mm, face position - full face.
  • The length of the head image is approximately 3 cm, and at least 70% of the image is allocated to this part.
  • Absence of any frames or edgings.
  • Lightened background.
  • Photo printing period is no more than 6 months.
  • Absence of any hats, regardless of religion.
  • The presence of glasses is solely on the recommendations of a doctor.
  • A photo with the face as open as possible, without shadows, preferably with the ears uncovered.

Invitation to Poland

If a visa applicant has relatives in the country or is going to work, it is imperative to issue an invitation to Poland. It is made by the other party, but presented by the applicant.

How to apply officially for a visa

The visa invitation must contain:

  • information about the receiving party (full name, address, telephone);
  • information about the applicant for an entry stamp (full name, passport number, date of birth);
  • confirmation of the legality of the inviter’s stay in Poland.

Guest invitation to Poland
It must be accompanied by a copy of the first page of the host’s passport and a certificate from the applicant’s place of work. If the latter is going to visit relatives, confirmation of communication with the other party is needed.

Is it possible to buy a work invitation?

A work invitation includes the following options:

  • an original and a copy of a paper promising employment, which is registered with the Polish authorities;
  • the original and photocopy of the statement of intent to hire a Russian from the Labor Department register.

There are companies in Russia from which you can buy such an invitation. But it must be checked for authenticity. This can be done by entering the tax and registration numbers of the employer into the databases:

  • https://stor.praca.gov.pl/portal/#/kraz,
  • https://wyszukiwarkaregon.stat.gov.pl/appBIR/index.aspx,
  • https://prod.ceidg.gov.pl/CEIDG/CEIDG.Public.UI/Search.aspx.

National and Schengen visa to Poland

In order for a Russian citizen to enter the territory of Poland, the Schengen country, he must have a visa. Submission of documents to all Visa Application Centers in Poland is carried out by appointment only. Poland issues two types of visas: C (Schengen) and D (National). In turn, a tourist visa for the Russian population to Poland belongs to category C. If you want to visit the sights of Poland (and other Schengen countries), this visa will come in handy. According to it, a citizen has the right, starting from the date of first entry, to stay in Poland and the countries of the free corridor for 90 days per six months. These countries include all states included in the Schengen zone. The number of entries is not limited. In addition, a category C visa is also suitable for transit across community borders. It won’t be difficult to arrange it yourself. Read our advice on this issue below.

Type D allows you to visit the territory of the Polish state for more than 90 days. Moreover, these days can be used up either in one trip or in several, starting from the first date of entry. A visa of this type is issued for 180 days. Her condition: only ½ days can be spent in other Schengen countries, the rest of the time in Poland.

Polish Schengen visas are of the following types:

  • the most popular are tourist visas, less common are guest and transit visas;
  • received on occasion - official visits to the country, sports tournaments or cultural events;
  • issued for exchange project participants - student training, driver's programs and medical visa.

Possible reasons for refusal to obtain a visa to Poland

Refusal to issue a permit to enter the republic may be caused by:

  • gaps in the list of documents;
  • errors in the execution of some of them (certificates are valid for no longer than 1 month), the presence of corrections;
  • discovery that the applicant has submitted false information about himself;
  • insufficient funds in his account (for 4 days he should have from 300 zlotys, if the trip is for a longer period, he needs from 75 zlotys per day plus money for the return trip);
