Visa regime and residence permit in Vietnam

Pros and cons of immigration to Vietnam

The cult of living in tropical countries is thriving among our compatriots, and this will surprise few people. The average Russian visits exotic countries more often than the resorts of his native state.

Southeast Asia ranks first among countries for emigration - preference is given to Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. In addition to the fact that states are considered budgetary, there are a number of other reasons for moving; they are highlighted as advantages.

pros

Common benefits of moving to Vietnam:

  1. Hot climate. You can get used to it very quickly, which is often the main factor for moving from the northern and central parts of Russia. Despite the intense sun and high humidity, Russians are ready to move and adapt to climatic conditions.
  2. Another life after emigration. You can really save on warm clothes, vehicles and other things if it’s summer all year round. Affordable housing in beautiful tropical locations adds color to everyday life. Surrounded by interesting people from different parts of the world.
  3. Asian hospitality. It is incomparable with European or Slavic ones; probably nowhere else can you meet so many smiling people. Their friendliness sets the mood for the whole day.
  4. The wealth of nature. Tropical forests, mountain peaks, sea lagoons, rice fields, temples - all this adds an artistic touch that will organically fit into the life of creative people. And, for inquisitive foreigners, Vietnam offers the main attractions that you will not find anywhere else.

Minuses

Living far from your homeland does not always bring joy, so before moving you should prepare for the following disadvantages:

  1. Rain season. Tropical showers are very different from heavy rain in Russia. From May to October it rains every day, during this period the sea is not calm. There are hurricanes for several days - on such days it seems that the end of the world has come.
  2. Lack of dairy products and buckwheat. For some people, this is a compelling reason to return home. Not everyone can give up milk, kefir, cheese, buckwheat, and adapt to Asian food.
  3. Fraudsters. Even among the friendly population there will be scammers and pickpockets. They live in markets, beaches, and crowded places. The worst thing is that the Vietnamese defend their own in any dispute, and this must be taken into account. Russians should also be treated with caution, they may offer unprofitable deals.
  4. Confusion on the roads. Due to the lack of normal sidewalks, pedestrians, traffic lights are not installed everywhere, there is always a risk of getting into an accident. You can protect yourself by driving at low speeds and having quality insurance.

How to obtain a residence permit

In 2021, obtaining a residence permit in Vietnam is quite difficult. It's all about government power. The government is headed by the Communist Party, which is not very favorable towards foreigners wishing to settle on the territory of this state. But, nevertheless, it is possible to obtain a residence permit. The most common way is employment.

Despite the fact that Vietnam has a very good educational system, this country still experiences a shortage of highly qualified employees. Another issue is that few foreigners want to work in Vietnam due to very low wages.

Specialists in the mining, engineering, metallurgical, pharmaceutical and shipbuilding industries have a particular advantage.

You can also obtain a residence permit through marriage to a citizen of Vietnam or after completing training in this country.

Employment

According to the labor code, only adults with a higher or secondary specialized education can find work in Vietnam. An important point is the absence of a criminal record.

To obtain a residence permit upon employment, the contract between the employer and the employee must be concluded for a period exceeding 3 months. That is, to obtain a residence permit, a person must have a work permit, and it is issued only if the estimated duration of the employment contract exceeds 90 days.

To obtain a residence permit in this way, you must remember that
to enter the country you will need to apply for a work visa .
If a tourist visa is issued, a work permit will be refused. Vietnamese migration rules in 2021 are somewhat different from those we are used to in Europe. For example, marriage to a Vietnamese citizen is not a direct basis for obtaining citizenship. But the spouse of a Vietnamese citizen has the right to apply for a residence permit.

In this case, the country of marriage does not play any role.

Ways to emigrate to Vietnam from Russia in 2021

Today, Southeast Asia warmly welcomes Russian tourists and those who want to move - offering to enjoy a favorable climate, warm sea and comfortable, inexpensive service. This is exactly what downshifters, winterers, and travelers who later want to move to a residence permit come to Vietnam for. Becoming an immigrant means accepting the rules of a new country. If we consider the conditions for moving to popular Vietnamese resorts, it is useful to know the main methods of emigration. In 2021 these include:

  1. Work visa or Work Permit.
  2. Investment capital.
  3. Business visa.
  4. Marriage with a resident.

Work visa or Work Permit

It is possible to emigrate to Vietnam for work, but salaries in the country are not more than $250-500. Although this money is quite enough to live here. Typically, upon arrival, Russians find work in the tourism, restaurant sector, sports and entertainment institutions. They work as guides, administrators, bartenders, DJs, dancers, water sports instructors, waiters, receptionists, yoga instructors, and realtors. Knowledge of English is required, but Russian is also in demand due to the large number of Russian tourists.

Also, recently, Thai winterers have been emigrating from Phuket and Samui to Vietnamese resorts - Nha Trang, Danang, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, Phu Quoc. Mostly they work remotely, so they buy a visa for a month or 3 months. To do this, travel agencies request an Approval Letter from the migration service. The cost of the document depends on the period and starts from $10 to $45.

To move, you can find a job through social networks Facebook, VK or agencies. According to reviews from emigrants who have already moved, it is possible to draw up a fictitious work contract. It is done by special agencies where foreigners apply with a copy of their education diploma and a certificate of good conduct. Such services are paid, the cost is calculated individually.

In view of the fact that Vietnam is trying to get out of a difficult economic situation, the Government of the country is supporting not only agriculture and tourism, but is also rapidly developing industry. Today, large manufacturers from China, South Korea, and Japan are moving factories to Vietnam. The main factors for this are low labor costs, tax benefits, and close location. Companies such as Samsung, Nokia, Intel, Panasonic, Fuji Xerox have already opened large-scale production of smartphones, household appliances, microcircuits, and multifunctional devices. Apple also plans to produce headphones in Vietnam. If you get a job at one of these international companies, you will be granted a Work Permit in Vietnam. This way it won’t be difficult to move to a residence permit. Knowledge of the Vietnamese language opens the doors of local firms to any position and in any sector - logistics, finance, sales.

Investment capital

Due to the close relations between Russia and Vietnam, which have been observed since the times of the Soviet Union, joint projects are operating in such areas as oil production, energy, and tropical research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Today, Russian capital is noted in 64 investment projects. This information concerns the government segment and large entrepreneurs. If we talk about small and medium-sized businesses, Vietnam has raised its position in the vastness of Southeast Asia. Many analysts suggest that Vietnam is following China's path.

To move and get a residence permit, investments in the economy are the most effective and give more results than another method of emigration. Investors prefer to invest money in the tourism industry, construction, real estate, processing and manufacturing industries, wholesale and retail trade, logistics, and bank lending. There are special sectors where investments are required and benefits are provided, often these are hydropower, marine resources, tropical forest exploration, and agriculture.

The Vietnam Investment Law was updated with new amendments in 2014. It specifies all the conditions and benefits for deposits in the public or private sector, through the purchase of bonds, shares, and other investments. The investor must obtain an “Investment Registration Certificate” from the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam or another authorized body. According to this document, you can submit an application to the Emigration Service to move as a temporary resident.

Business visa

In the circles of the Russian-speaking population, business emigration in Vietnam is considered one of the most difficult. It must be said that the procedure for doing business is the same as in Thailand, which means you can register a company with the share participation of a Vietnamese, that is, 50/50. Therefore, finding a good partner is the first task of a foreigner; then it is worth protecting yourself with a competent contract. Many entrepreneurs find a partner and, after registration, buy out their share. Thus, a foreigner becomes the owner of the business. Clear requirements for authorized capital have not yet been established, but changes should not be ruled out.

It is allowed to obtain a business visa on the territory of the state. To obtain it yourself, you need to collect documents and submit them to the authorized body. The basic package includes

  • a foreign passport with a validity period of at least 3 months;
  • photographs based on the sample;
  • company registration certificate;
  • a certificate of no criminal record obtained in your home state;
  • insurance policy;
  • bank certificates confirming the availability of current or card accounts;
  • information about marital status;
  • receipt of payment of the fee.

According to local migration policy, a business visa is issued for 6 months or 1 year, with the right to extension. Regarding the consular fee, its amount for 6 months is around $220, for a year – $320.

As in many countries, a successful business organized legally guarantees long-term stay for foreigners. But in order to emigrate with the right to obtain a residence permit, it is worth preparing a good business plan, hiring an accountant, submitting reports and paying taxes. It is also worth taking care to reflect the profit on the balance sheet, otherwise the visa may not be extended and at the same time the goal of obtaining a residence permit will not be achieved.

Marriage to a resident

In order to move legally and live a full life in a new country, marriages are often concluded with residents. The Vietnamese Government also does not prohibit mixed marriages, but so far Taiwanese and Vietnamese are registering their relationships - this is the most common mixture of nations. If we talk about Russians, then in comparison with Thailand, where the marriage of Russians with Thais is quite common, with the Vietnamese the situation is different. Due to different cultures, Europeans and Slavs rarely enter into long-term relationships with Vietnamese or Vietnamese women. But marriages with locals still occur, often among wealthier citizens. A foreigner from any country can move to permanent residence using this method of emigration.

At first, the state issues the spouse a residence permit for 5 years; after this period, you must pass an exam on your knowledge of the Vietnamese language. If approved, the Emigration Service issues a passport to the foreign citizen, but before doing so, asks him to renounce his native residence. The country does not support dual citizenship.

In fact, the Vietnamese live according to a socialist scheme and this is reflected in all areas of life. Entering into a legal relationship with a resident does not guarantee that you will be able to emigrate. Large differences in culture and traditions are reflected in everyday life, which is why some couples get divorced. After a divorce, children remain with one of the parents; upon reaching adulthood, the child independently chooses their country of residence.

Procedure for obtaining a residence permit

Obtaining a residence permit in the Republic of Vietnam is possible in the following cases:

  • in case of legal employment;
  • in case of acquisition of shares of Vietnamese companies;
  • when concluding a marriage with a citizen of the Republic of Vietnam;
  • in case of studying in the country;
  • when opening your own company in Vietnam.

Although Vietnam has a very good education system, it still has a shortage of highly qualified specialists. It should be noted that few foreigners have the desire to work in this country due to low wages.

Employment

When applying for employment in sought-after vacant positions, residents of the Russian Federation and other countries must enter into an employment agreement. The most popular professions among immigrants are in the service and tourism sectors, in the pharmaceutical industry, in the metallurgical, oil-extracting industries, and shipbuilding. To work successfully in Vietnam, it is not necessary to speak Vietnamese; a good knowledge of international English is sufficient.

In case of registration of employment for a period of up to 3 years, it is necessary to provide a package of documents to the department of the Ministry of Labor, which should include:

  • a valid passport of a Russian citizen who has reached the age of 18;
  • certificate from a medical institution about health status;
  • documents confirming the education received (diploma, certificate);
  • valid international passport;
  • documentary evidence of no criminal record.

After submitting all the necessary documents, the applicant is issued an employment card, with which he has the right to apply for a residence permit.

It is possible to obtain a residence permit by purchasing shares of a Vietnamese company if you own at least 1% of its securities. A Vietnamese residence permit can also be obtained after completing training in Vietnam or through an officially registered marriage relationship with a Vietnamese citizen.

A residence permit gives foreigners the right to buy real estate in Vietnam. It can be either residential or commercial. But a migrant should remember that if he has a residence permit, he does not have the right to rent out real estate, but can only use it himself. If they have a residence permit in the Republic of Vietnam, foreign citizens also have the opportunity to leave this country and then return no later than three months later, without obtaining permits. In case of absence for more than 3 months, the residence permit is canceled and the property is confiscated by the state.

The cost of obtaining a residence permit in Vietnam is the same for both adults and children. In this case, children must have documents proving their relationship with the adult applying for a residence permit.

Obtaining a residence permit

To obtain a residence permit, you should move to Vietnam using one of the above emigration methods. Due to the fact that downshifting is common in Southeast Asia, many people practice visas to Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and thus extend their visa, which allows them to live from 6 months to one year. But you should know that this option is short-term and will not be beneficial in the long term.

It is also impossible to emigrate through the purchase of real estate. In Vietnam, housing is allowed to be rented for a maximum period of 50 years. But the conditions of emigration may change. The policy of the Asian state is changing, the annual increase in investment capital is $30 million, so the opinions of investors and entrepreneurs will be taken into account.

Documentation

To move, you need to apply for a residence permit or permanent residence, it is considered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam. The government agency must provide copies with translations into Vietnamese of the following documents:

  • international passport;
  • residence passport;
  • photographs based on the sample;
  • certificate of no criminal record;
  • health insurance;
  • Bank statements;
  • work permit (for employment);
  • certificate of investment registration (for investors);
  • documentation of company registration (in case of opening a business);
  • marriage certificate with a resident;
  • receipts for payment of government duties.

Price

The price for a residence permit or permanent residence includes consideration of an application for emigration and the issuance of a plastic ID card. To emigrate without additional hassle, contact immigration agencies. With the support of specialists, the registration period is noticeably reduced, as it is easier for lawyers to navigate the legislation. According to reviews from recipients of residence permits, the cost of services of these agencies starts from $1000, a residence permit for 3 years comes out to $2500.

Registration period

When emigrating, it is important to prepare all the necessary documents and provide accurate information in the application. If everything is in order, then the Emigration Service does not require additional verification from the Ministry of Public Security, which means the residence permit will be issued within a period of 1-3 months. Otherwise, the process will take up to 6 months.

Validity

A temporary resident card is issued for a year, then extended for the same period or longer. According to the rules of Vietnam, extension is possible for an unlimited number of times.

Visa to Vietnam, its types and paperwork process

Many travelers planning a trip to Nha Trang have a completely logical question: do citizens of the CIS (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, etc.) need a visa to Vietnam? Let's figure it out.

A visa to Vietnam for Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians for up to 15 days is not needed. For citizens of Kazakhstan – issued upon arrival. Read more in the article.

A Vietnam visa can be issued for one, three or six months . There are ways to obtain a visa for one, two or even three years (but this is already a residence permit, we will talk about it later).

Also, depending on the number of entries, there are single-entry and multiple-entry .

In general, Vietnam's visa policy is quite flexible. Like many countries in Southeast Asia, Vietnam makes good money due to the large tourist flow, since on the territory of this state you can have an excellent and inexpensive vacation.

Jungle Beach

Resort towns like Nha Trang and Da Nang are famous for their beaches and mud springs, and Dalat is gorgeous in its own right. In addition, this Asian country has a rich culture and traditions.

Interesting fact: Vietnam is a favorite tourism destination for the Chinese. As they themselves admit: it is close, cheap, tasty, warm and there is the sea. Therefore, in Nha Trang, in addition to Russians, there are a huge number of Chinese.

For citizens of a large number of countries, Vietnam allows visa-free entry, but under certain conditions:

  • the purpose of the trip should be purely touristic and educational;
  • stay in the country for no more than 15 days.

A tourist visa does not allow you to work or study in educational institutions in Vietnam.

To enter the country you must:

  • availability of a foreign passport, the validity of which expires no earlier than 6 months from the final date of the trip;
  • availability of a return ticket;
  • the period since the last visit to Vietnam, if any, must be more than 30 days;
  • lack of full name tourist on the country's blacklist.

Visa-free entry into Vietnam is possible for no more than 15 days every 30 days.

It is also worth noting that it is not necessary to have a return ticket, since you just need to present a reservation for it. At the same time, you can travel back to any other country, and not just the one from which you arrived in Vietnam.

Visa-free entry to Phu Quoc

It is worth mentioning separately about the visa-free regime of Phu Quoc Island. It lasts not 15 days, as on the mainland of the country, but 30 days. This is only possible if you arrive at the international airport located on the island. However, in this case, you are unlikely to be allowed to leave the island to visit other parts of Vietnam.

Let us remind you that a visa is not required for citizens of Russia, Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus for a period of up to 15 days. You only need to fill it out if you decide to stay for a longer period.

A visa to Vietnam can be obtained in several ways:

  • at the Vietnamese consulate in your country;
  • at consulates general in other countries;
  • through intermediaries.

Registration through the consulate

You can apply for a visa in advance at the Vietnamese consulate in Russia (in Moscow, Vladivostok or Yekaterinburg).

In this case, you need to collect the following package of documents:

  1. international passport with a validity period of at least 6 months;
  2. application form in 2 copies, completed in English;
  3. 1 photo 4×6 cm;
  4. invitation from the host party (done through a travel agency).

You will then need to pay a visa fee of $25 or more (depending on the length of your visa).

Applying for a visa upon arrival at the airport (entry into the country)

Perhaps the easiest way to obtain a Vietnamese visa is upon arrival: a minimum of time and money.

So, let's look at getting a visa step by step .

Step 1. Before departure (2-3 weeks)

An Approval Letter (or Invitation Letter) must be obtained prior to departure This is an invitation to Vietnam, without which you will not receive a visa. To be ordered in advance, 2-3 weeks in advance. The letter must be printed and taken with you to obtain a visa.

Approval/Invitation Letter Invitation to Vietnam

Where to order an invitation, read below.

Step 2. Upon arrival

Upon arrival at the Vietnam airport, you must go to the window with the inscription Landing Visa, located in front of the passport control counters.

Step 3. Filling out the migration card

Here, at the window with the inscription Landing Visa, you can take a blank form of a migration card.

Good to know: the form can be downloaded and filled out at home, in a relaxed environment. This will reduce the time spent at the airport. The English example shows how to enter information into all lines of the document. The migration card has its own filling features, which are definitely worth paying attention to.

Step 4. Submitting documents for a visa

After filling out the form, you should give the invitation letter , migration card, 2 4x6 photos and passport to the visa inspector and wait for your turn to receive a visa.

Step 5. Obtaining a passport with visa

After a short check (5-10 minutes), your visa will be ready and you will be called to receive it.

For a tourist visa for 3, 6 or 9 months, the procedure will be the same. Visas for a longer period are obtained in the same way, but to obtain them you must provide a different set of documents (read about this below).

Where to order an invitation?

An invitation to Vietnam (Approval Letter) can be ordered through a travel agency in your city or through similar companies of the host country.

Visa cost

Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians do not need to pay for the visa itself, but to obtain it they must have an Approval Letter in hand. This is an invitation to Vietnam issued by the local migration service.

For citizens of other countries, prices are as follows:

  • $25 – single entry visa;
  • $50 – multiple entry visa up to 3 months;
  • $95 – multiple entry visa from 3 to 6 months;
  • $135 – multiple entry visa from 6 to 12 months.

In practice, it does not happen that someone is not given an invitation, although theoretically such a possibility still exists.

For true lovers of Vietnam, as well as businessmen who decide to settle here, it is possible to obtain a residence permit for a period of 2 to 3 years.

Prices for 2021 are approximately as follows:

  • visa for a year ~ $450;
  • Residence permit for 2 years ~ $600;
  • Residence permit for 3 years ~ $800.

For more information about the process of obtaining the necessary documents and the current cost, please contact your visa agents.

Entry rules for children

A visa to Vietnam is also required for minor children - in this regard, the state policy is quite standard. If the stay in the country is more than 15 days, the child must be included in the parent’s passport. That is, in fact, one visa is needed for two, but in this case the fee for the invitation letter is charged twice .

It is also worth noting such important information that in the hands of grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc. You must have a power of attorney from your parents with you , allowing you to leave the country.

The child must have a birth certificate or international passport with him. These documents are also subject to verification by border services.

Entry rules for CIS citizens

For citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus, exactly the same rules apply as for Russians. You do not need to apply for a visa for a period of up to 15 days. To apply for a longer period, you must receive an Invitation Letter (we wrote about this above).

Citizens of Kazakhstan, in addition to the invitation, will have to pay a consular fee at the border of $25 or more.

For details, check with travel agencies and agents providing visa services (contacts of the latter are listed above).

Fine for overstaying your visa

If for some reason you have overstayed your Vietnam visa , try to contact a travel agency and inquire about an extension without crossing the border. It will cost you twice as much as a regular visa, but you will avoid unnecessary problems with customs.

Subsequently, if a person without a visa exceeds the period of stay in Vietnam, he will be fined a corresponding fine of $5 for each day. If the period is significant, then this threatens not only a fine, but also a ban on visiting the country in the future.

Receiving a refusal

It is almost impossible to get a visa refusal from the Vietnam Migration Service. This is due to the fact that this country has a flexible visa policy aimed at expanding the tourist flow of people from all over the world. The state receives a significant portion of its profits precisely from the influx of tourists.

Practice shows that in the absence of any problems with the law, expired visas, etc. On your last trip to Vietnam, you will definitely be given a visa.

Refusal to do so may relate to factors such as:

  • adding a person to the country's blacklist;
  • incorrect completion of all documents (errors or inconsistencies);
  • any deception of migration service employees.

The easiest way to extend your stay in Vietnam if your visa has expired is to get a new one. This is called a visa run, that is, when in order to obtain a visa you need to go to another country and return back.

To do this, you issue an invitation again, and then with a clear conscience you go to travel to nearby countries (or even further):

  • Cambodia (cheapest, by bus);
  • Thailand;
  • Indonesia;
  • Malaysia;
  • Laos;
  • Philippines;
  • Hong Kong;
  • etc.

On your way back, go through the same procedure for obtaining a visa - and that’s it, you can stay in the country for the next few months or even years.

No departure

If necessary, the visa can be extended without leaving the country. The renewal period can range from 30 to 90 days (that is, from one to three months). But most often, migration services do not offer a maximum period for a foreign citizen. For the renewal process to be successful, two requirements must be met:

  • you should not violate the laws of Vietnam (this also applies to minor offenses that are punishable by an administrative fine);
  • you need to contact the specialized department of the country or the appropriate intermediaries.

Renewals may have different costs depending on who you contact. Typically the price ranges from $25 to $50.

Work Visa

Sometimes, after visiting Vietnam, some people find work here and decide to stay and work officially. Most often this applies to industries such as IT, education, shipbuilding, mining, services, etc. In this case, some employers issue work visas to employees.

A work visa is issued not through the migration service, but through the Vietnam Labor Department. At the same time, a company registered in this country must indicate a desire to hire a foreigner. Most often this happens when he has relevant experience and good specialization.

It is important for the Labor Department to prepare a certain package of documents:

  • application form for employment;
  • confirmation from the company hiring the employee;
  • certificate of no criminal record in the country of residence;
  • migration card with a corresponding photograph;
  • health certificate;
  • copies of existing documents confirming specialization and professional skills;
  • 3 photos 3x4 in color.

Within 15 days, the Vietnam Labor Department will review the documents and make a decision on the visa application. In most cases, this document allows you to work for one to three years.

It is worth noting that under no circumstances should you change your place of work. This is due to the fact that the company that invited him to Vietnam is also responsible for the person. If he changes his place of work, the new employer must fill out the permit documents again.

An example of a Vietnamese company that hires Russians with official registration is Coc Coc Browser (office site).

Conclusion

We hope that our advice will help you in obtaining a visa and will resolve most of your questions. Feel free to ask your questions in the comment form below, we will be happy to share our experience.

Vietnam is a country where it is quite easy to get a visa and where citizens of Russia, Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus are very loyal.

Have a nice stay in Vietnam!

Obtaining Vietnamese citizenship

Vietnamese citizenship is not yet in demand among our compatriots; they mostly live as temporary residents. The main reason lies in the ban on dual citizenship, so not many people decide to replace their passport. If you still want to emigrate to a tropical country forever, then you should know the stages of obtaining a new citizenship:

  1. First of all, a foreigner must apply for emigration.
  2. Collect documents confirming social status in the country and financial viability.
  3. Pass an exam on your knowledge of the Vietnamese language and the history of the state.
  4. Wait for the decision of the President of Vietnam.
  5. Renounce Russian citizenship.
  6. Go through the procedure for receiving a new passport.

Due to the fact that the President of Vietnam himself reviews applications, the process can last from 6 months to 1 year.

Citizenship

Obtaining a residence permit in Vietnam is quite difficult, and citizenship is almost impossible. Obtaining Vietnamese citizenship is possible only with the approval of the President of Vietnam. To obtain resident status, you must have lived in Vietnam for at least 5 years. It is for this period that a residence permit is issued. It can be renewed an unlimited number of times.

Upon receipt of citizenship of this republic, a migrant will need to renounce the citizenship of his home country and pass a test for knowledge of the national language of the country - Vietnamese.

Advantages and disadvantages of living in Vietnam

It’s not for nothing that Vietnam is such a desirable country for those wishing to go for permanent residence. After all, living in that country has many advantages. The first and, perhaps, main advantage is the relatively low cost of real estate and products.

The level of domestic gross income is increasing every year in Vietnam. This indicator directly indicates the development of the economy, due to which prices for food and housing within the country are reduced, making them more affordable for the population.

Among the disadvantages of life in Vietnam are total unemployment and low wages . But this level of unemployment only benefits people who want to leave for permanent residence in Vietnam in 2021. After all, the government gladly accepts foreign citizens who want to find work in the territory of this republic

True, only highly qualified workers are gladly accepted. People without education will find it difficult to find work in Vietnam.

Attitudes of locals towards immigrants in Vietnam

Before moving to Vietnam, it is worth studying the lifestyle, culture and mentality of the local people. Southeast Asia is often famous for its friendliness and smiles, so you want to return to these countries when you are a tourist - it’s another thing to live permanently. If we take into account the reviews of Russians after emigrating, they are happy to be in a tropical country, where there are many beaches on the shores of the South China Sea, tropical greenery, and sweet fruits. In addition, prices for the main groups of goods are very low, which allows you to be content with life.

The attitude of the Vietnamese towards Russians has been the most favorable since the Soviet Union, so you don’t have to worry about being left out. In the countries of Southeast Asia, there is still a cult of European appearance, because of this, there is widespread respect for them. Also, due to the large number of winterers, freelancers, expats, travelers and those who love savage holidays, Russian-speaking communities are formed. Now many Russians live in Nha Trang, Dalat, Phu Quoc, Mui Ne, Vinh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City are gradually being settled by foreigners.

Registration and receipt of a residence permit in Vietnam

Vietnam in 2021 attracts foreign citizens with its unusually warm climate and low prices for accommodation.
That is why most foreigners strive to become residents of this republic. But immediately before this, you need to apply for a residence permit in Vietnam; without a residence permit, you won’t be able to live in the country for a long time. An alternative to a residence permit can be a visa allowing you to stay in the country. But it is necessary to take into account that it will need to be constantly renewed.

Stage two: obtaining a residence permit

After receiving a tourist visa and entering the country, citizens wishing to immigrate to Vietnam should think about looking for work, since only employed foreigners or those who have a fixed-term or open-ended employment contract with a future employer can obtain a residence permit.

If a traveling Russian was unable to find a suitable place of work during a tourist trip on an open visa, then he can contact a special agency (there are many such agencies in Vietnam) for not entirely legal employment. This service is paid. Its cost must be found out from the agencies themselves. They will select the necessary place of work or arrange an investment in some Vietnamese company, purchasing 1-2% of the shares of this company (formally).

After receiving documents on future employment, you must contact the Vietnamese Migration Service by presenting them with the following documents:

All documents must be translated into English or Vietnamese. You can also scan documents and transfer them to electronic media. Scans of documents may be required in Vietnam.

The validity of the residence permit directly depends on the duration of the employment agreement. Most often it is concluded for a period of three months to one year. Further extended. The maximum period of a residence permit is three years. After this period has expired, it can be extended. Or apply for a permanent residence permit.

Also, in addition to employment, a residence permit can be issued to citizens who have entered into marriage with a hereditary Vietnamese. But this circumstance also does not give the right to obtain citizenship, as is permissible in Russia. A residence permit provides many advantages for a foreigner:

Important! The absence of a foreign national with a residence permit stamp for more than three months continuously may lead to confiscation of real estate by government agencies without compensation for losses or subsequent return.

Having visited the country once, being there on a tourist visa (registration rules are described earlier) or having thought through all the pros and cons of moving to Vietnam in advance, you can decide to stay and live there.

The easiest and most affordable way is to apply for a tourist visa and permanently extend it. You can extend your visa 3 times in a row through travel agencies or by contacting the Ministry of Public Security. However, such residents of the country are deprived of many rights

. In addition, you may once again receive a refusal to extend it, which will entail a number of problems associated with an unexpected departure from the country. It is worth noting that when extending a visa, it is advisable to make a photocopy of your passport, since it will be taken away.

The wisest thing, of course, is to obtain a residence permit in Vietnam.

1) So, having arrived on a tourist visa, it makes sense to start looking for work. Official employment is possible with a diploma of education, as in any enterprise in Russia, and a certificate of no criminal record

.
There is the possibility of formal employment if it is impossible to actually find a job
. The package of documents remains the same. As soon as you have a paper in hand confirming official employment and permission to work in the country, you can apply for a residence permit for a period of 1, 2 or 3 years.

2) If you have start-up capital and desire, you can start your own business in Vietnam. To do this, you need to obtain a work license, after which a residence permit is issued.

3) Purchasing shares of Vietnamese enterprises also gives the right to obtain a residence permit.

In fact, a residence permit can be obtained if you justify the need to stay in the country for a period longer than the period of the visa, and the methods listed above do this with interest. Thus, the package of documents for obtaining a residence permit in Vietnam necessarily includes a passport, international passport, visa, passport photographs (4 pcs.), a certificate of no criminal record and a document confirming the right to a long stay in the country.

— there is no need to extend the visa, although the residence permit is issued for a certain period;

— the Russia-Vietnam border remains constantly open;

— having resident status, you can apply for visas to other countries without returning to Russia;

— it is possible to obtain all personal documents through the Russian Consulate;

- and finally, you can purchase real estate and become its full owner.

The next optional step is to obtain Vietnamese citizenship. Surprisingly, you can become a citizen of this country only after 5 years of living in Vietnam, and neither marriage nor the birth of a child can change this

. Another prerequisite: knowledge of the language.

A residence permit in Vietnam provides many opportunities, including the right to be a citizen of your native country. It is not at all necessary to burn all bridges to live outside the usual town, if you can create conditions for life outside it. A residence permit in Vietnam is a chance to spend all year round in the warmth, enjoy the picturesque nature, and learn about the culture and customs of the country.

Visa, residence permit and permanent residence permit of Vietnam

Vietnam is a country located in Southeast Asia and is able to attract even those who have never looked beyond their noses with the richness of its culture. The hospitality of the people of Vietnam, their religion, way of life and, of course, the extraordinary beauty of this country makes many people think about moving

. But it’s one thing to go on a tourist trip, and quite another to move there for permanent residence.

A number of related difficulties with paperwork may force you to abandon your plans.

Let's try to figure out what is needed to move to Vietnam.

Since the times of the Soviet Union, relations between Russia and Vietnam have been and remain friendly. Russians are required to obtain a visa if the trip to this warm country is not of a two-week tourist nature, and crossing the border in the opposite direction is not planned earlier than in 15 days.

So, first of all, you need to take care of insurance. Decide where to apply, at what cost, for how long. When applying for insurance, you must study all the clauses of the contract.

. Clarify the size of the franchise, the presence of an appropriate company that will deal with the insured event in Vietnam. After this, you can begin to apply for the visa itself.

Obtaining citizenship in Vietnam and residence permit

Thanks to the development of fruitful cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV), immigration to this country has become a reality . Today, moving to Vietnam for permanent residence is available to citizens who have married a citizen of Vietnam, those who have acquired Vietnamese citizenship, those who have issued a tourist visa with the possibility of its further extension, and those who have a permanent or temporary residence permit.

The procedure for obtaining permanent residence in the Republic of Vietnam

You can apply for permanent residence in Vietnam after 5 years of permanent residence in this country and after completing the naturalization process.

A marriage certificate with a citizen of the Republic of Vietnam provides the right to obtain a residence permit for a period of 5 years with the prospect of filing an application for registration of permanent residence.

There is also the possibility of obtaining a long-term visa to Vietnam, which requires a stay in Vietnam for a period of one month to 1 year, which is issued at embassies and consulates. To complete it, you must have either an invitation letter or an “approval” letter, which is purchased from a special agency.

Among the main documents required to be provided in order to obtain a permanent residence permit, there should be the following:

All listed documents must be drawn up in the state language and notarized. The period for consideration of the application from the date of submission is 115 days. Children (under 15 years of age) receive such permission together with their parents.

Obtaining citizenship

Based on Vietnamese legislation, there are several options for acquiring citizenship, including: citizenship by descent; citizenship by birth; citizenship through naturalization.

Citizenship by descent is automatically granted to a child if he has both parents who are citizens of the state of Vietnam. Moreover, in this case, the child can be born in any corner of the globe. If one of the parents is a foreigner, then the child’s place of birth is decisive, and he will be a citizen of Vietnam only if he is born on the territory of this country.

By right of birth, children who were born in the republic, but whose parents are unknown (foundlings), are automatically considered Vietnamese citizens by birthright. This category also includes babies born to parents permanently living in Vietnam, but who were stateless at the time of birth.

Citizenship through naturalization is, in principle, available to any foreigner subject to certain conditions, including: a period of permanent residence in Vietnam of at least 5 years; majority; knowledge of the Vietnamese language.
