Car insurance for a trip to Kazakhstan

To cross the border of Kazakhstan using a compulsory motor insurance vehicle, which operates on the territory of the Russian Federation, will not work. The driver will need to take out an insurance policy at the border of Kazakhstan, or do this in advance from Russian insurers.

There is a fine for not having insurance. The first time the driver is fined 2 thousand rubles, and if the violation is recorded a second time - about 8 thousand rubles.

You can take out insurance for at least two weeks (from 15 days). For this period, insurance will cost about one and a half thousand rubles. If you take out insurance at a checkpoint, you will need documents for the car and a passport.

It is worth considering that issuing a policy through the insurance company will take several days.

Conditions for entry into Kazakhstan apply to both passengers crossing the border by air and those traveling across the border by car.

Negative test for coronavirus

All citizens upon entry into Kazakhstan must have a negative test result for COVID-19. The test must be taken no later than 3 days before the trip.

The certificate can be in both Russian and English. The form must contain the clinic’s stamp, the doctor’s signature, and the time of the study.

Children under 5 years old do not need to take the test.

Transit passengers do not need a test provided they stay in the transit zone for no more than 24 hours.

Illegal border crossing of the Republic of Kazakhstan

It is illegal to cross

  1. in a place not equipped with customs control,
  2. using false documents or
  3. using documents from third parties.

Responsibility for illegal crossing can be avoided in case of negligence, for example, if you got lost... If the violation is proven, then by court decision a large fine or imprisonment of up to 1 year will be imposed. If such a violation is committed by a group of people, the period is increased to 5 years with subsequent deportation from the country (see how to check deportation) without the right to enter in the future.

Do not leave Kazakhstan by a detour; you will automatically be included in the database of violators and will be prohibited from entering in the future.

Do you need a passport to Kazakhstan?

A foreign passport is also not required to travel to Kazakhstan. You can visit the country with an internal Russian passport.

Medical insurance

Insurance is not a mandatory document for visiting Kazakhstan. However, it is recommended to take out a policy for any trip abroad. Insurance is especially relevant during the coronavirus period, since with it you can get priority treatment at a paid clinic.

The insurance covers not only medical expenses, but also the loss of luggage, documents and other unforeseen circumstances.

Additionally, you can take out trip cancellation insurance. The policy compensates for all travel expenses (tickets, travel services, accommodation, etc.). For example, insurance will work if you get sick before your trip. To receive payments, you will need to present a doctor's certificate to the insurance company.

Flights to Kazakhstan from Moscow

Now a flight to Kazakhstan is the most convenient and affordable way for Russian citizens to get to this country. By plane, you can fly to Kazakhstan either by direct flight or with transfers. The flight time from Moscow to Astana is approximately 3 hours, the distance is approximately 2272 kilometers.

Airfare prices:

  • Moscow – Astana: over 21,300 rubles;
  • Moscow – Almaty: more than 32,700 rubles;
  • Moscow – Uralsk – more than 40,000 rubles.

Entry into Russia from Kazakhstan under new rules for 2021

In the spring of 2021, a decree was introduced on the return of Russians from abroad. This requirement also applies to those arriving from Kazakhstan.

Before departure from Kazakhstan, you need to go to the State Services service and fill out a form for arriving in Russia. The questionnaire will need to be shown when passing control.

Upon returning to the Russian Federation, you must take a test for COVID-19 within 3 days, and take a second test within 5 days. Thus, the break between tests must be at least one day. Both results must be uploaded to State Services.
