Romania: entry is possible with Schengen, EU visas, or a national visa

Types of visas

First, decide what kind of visa to Romania you need. As noted, you can enter the country if you have Schengen one, two or many times for a total period of up to 3 months in a six-month period. In addition, visiting Romanian territory is allowed if you have a visa permit from Croatia or Cyprus. A Bulgarian visa to Romania is also suitable. The stay period remains the same.

In other cases, a national permit is required, which comes in several types:

  1. Transit (A and B). Type A involves moving through a Romanian airport and staying on its territory for up to 24 hours. Residents of the Russian Federation do not need such permission. Type B is issued when traveling to another country and staying in the country for up to five days.
  2. Short-term (S). To solve most problems in Romania, you need a type C visa valid for up to three months. It has many subspecies. For example, C/M is issued for business trips and negotiations, C/VV refers to a guest permit. Tourists need to obtain C/T U, etc.
  3. Long-term (D). If a person plans a long stay (over 90 days), he needs a Romanian visa type D with an extension option. Such a seal is necessary for Russians planning to get married when applying for a job or enrolling in a university.

Thus, it is not possible to travel to Romania without visas. The only exception is if you have a transit permit (A), but in such a situation you cannot leave the airport. In other cases, you need to obtain a Schengen visa, a Cyprus, Croatian, Bulgarian visa or a national Romanian visa.

Visa documents for children

To obtain a visa to Romania, minor children (before the age of 18), in addition to standard documents, must provide consent for the trip from their parents, indicating the duration of stay. When considering the package of documents for a child, the consulate must understand that the parents agree to the child’s travel with one of them, or with an accompanying or unaccompanied person, for which it is necessary to give a notarized document - consent to leave indicating the country of residence (we recommend indicating the maximum period of stay - before age of majority with a list of countries possible for travel, and if the child is over 10 years old, we recommend giving consent to his travel unaccompanied).

  • Original passport, valid for at least 3 months after the end of the trip.
  • Two color photographs 3.5 x 4.5 on a white matte paper background (70% face).
  • Questionnaire with the personal signature of the tourist (the questionnaire can be filled out in our office).
  • copy of the child's birth certificate
  • a copy of the exit consent, or a valid Schengen, Bulgarian, Cyprus or Romanian multi-visa.

Pay the fee

The price of a visa to Romania varies depending on the purpose and urgency of the trip. A simple permit for tourist purposes will cost 35 €. If there is no time and you need to obtain an urgent permit, an amount of 70 € is paid. When traveling for a long time you will need to pay 120 €. Payment is made without specifying the purpose of the trip. Money is transferred only in EU currencies. If you receive a refusal, you cannot expect a refund.

The following categories of citizens will not have to pay a fee for a Romanian visa::

  • children under six years of age;
  • University students under the age of 25;
  • persons with disabilities who have the appropriate certificate;
  • relatives of Romanian citizens;
  • persons participating in educational or sporting events, conferences, forums.

In other cases, payment of the full cost of a visa to Romania is required..

Country information

Judging by the cinematic films, Romania is absolutely teeming with vampires, the leader of which is Count Dracula! Therefore, it attracts travelers with its mystical aura and mystery.

Bucharest is often called the Paris of eastern Europe for its architecture. The castles of Corvins, Deva and Peles are classics of the Renaissance and Gothic era. And the famous Bran has been preserved in its original form, so as not to disturb the evil spirits living there. There is a legend hidden in every corner of the country, but in order to get into it, you need to find out the cost of a visa to Romania from a travel agency.

The fortresses of Barshov and Rasnov protected the inhabitants of Transylvania with mighty stone walls eight centuries ago. The history of Roman rule is also remembered here, in honor of which a monument to the she-wolf was erected. In order to try real hominy fried in sour cream with bacon and cheese, you need to exchange money for Romanian lei at the rate of 13 rubles. Romania is the beauty of the Carpathians, sparkling wine and the blue Danube.

How to apply for a visa to Romania on your own

The question is often asked on the Internet whether it is possible to obtain a Romanian visa on your own, and what is needed for this. There are several ways here - contact the Consulate or the Moscow Visa Center. There are also representative offices in other cities. Reception is carried out without prior registration. It is not necessary to come personally - you can authorize one representative.

The general algorithm is:

  1. Decide whether you need a visa to Romania and what type. Sometimes you can get by with Schengen or a permit allowing entry into other countries (this was mentioned above).
  2. Fill out an application form at the CC or Consulate.
  3. Collect and submit the required package of papers.
  4. Pay the fee taking into account the issued permit. If you receive an urgent option, the price will be higher.

To increase your chances of success, prepare copies of each document, as they will be required along with the originals. Submit papers without files or folders, prepare old passports (if any) and provide only truthful information.

Entry rules to Romania 2021

To enter Romania, Russian citizens need to have any EU visa (Schengen, Bulgarian, Croatian...Romanian). Entry into Romania is regulated by its own red, yellow, green traffic lights. Today, Russia is in the yellow zone for Romania (check relevance).
Since Russia has moved into the yellow zone ,

then to enter Romania
a scheme with transit to a third country is used:
Bulgaria, Serbia.

Entry from yellow countries requires a 14-day quarantine . Exceptions: a) fully vaccinated with the correct vaccine > 14 days ago; b) recovered from Covid with a certificate (positive PCR test < 180 days); c) it is possible to stay on the territory of Romania for up to 72 hours if there is a PCR test < 72 hours before entering Romania; d) transit through Romania within 24 hours.

The quarantine period can be reduced to 10 days by passing a second PCR test at least 8 days after arrival.

Why can they refuse?

It is not always possible to obtain a visa to Romania the first time. Sometimes applicants face a refusal, which may be due to various reasons. The situation is complicated by the fact that representatives of the Romanian Consulate are critical of requests coming from Russians. Common reasons for refusal include:

  • failure to comply with any requirements regarding the collection of documentation;
  • violation of the law during previous trips to the country;
  • presentation of false documentation (certificates, certificates);
  • presence of a person on the list of unreliable persons;
  • criminal record;
  • lack of sufficient financial resources, etc.

In case of refusal, conduct an analysis of why the Romanian visa was refused. If the application is filled out incorrectly, you must fill it in again and send the document for review. If the reason is not clear, call representatives of the Consulate or the CC to clarify the situation. If you are sure that the refusal is illegal, an appeal statement is drawn up, which must be legally competent. To fill it out, it is better to contact the Visa Center. Specialists from such authorities are aware of the situation and can advise how to obtain a visa to Romania in case of refusal.

Reasons for refusal

Now Romania is guided by other European countries in this matter, but as you can see from the list of requirements for Russians, this state is not distinguished by loyalty. Therefore, the list of reasons for refusal of a visa to Romania is more extensive:

  • Violation of any of the requirements for documents;
  • Incomplete package of documents;
  • Violation of the law during earlier visits to the country;
  • Providing “fake” certificates confirming status and financial condition;
  • The presence of the applicant’s name in the “lists of unreliability” (the criteria for their compilation are unknown, but if the Romanian Consulate thinks that the applicant poses a threat to the security of the state, he will be included in this list);
  • Having a criminal record;
  • Insufficient financial support for the trip.

Results

Above, we figured out whether a visa is needed for Romania, and what it should be for Russians. In other situations, you can apply for a national visa at the Moscow Visa Application Center. But with such a seal it will no longer be possible to travel to another country. That is why the choice of type and design must be approached with all responsibility.

Visa cost

  • The visa fee is fixed and does not depend on the validity of the visa or the purpose of the trip. It must be paid at the time of submission of documents and only in euros.
  • Processing documents for a transit and short-term visa for Russians costs 35 euros, for citizens of other countries – 60 euros.
