Free stamp on arrival
Russians arriving for tourist purposes for a period of up to 30 days do not require a visa .
An entry stamp into Indonesia is affixed to your passport directly at the airport upon arrival and does not cost any money .
However, in this case it is impossible to extend your stay in Bali. If you think that 30 days is not enough, you need to get a visa on arrival.
It opens for 30 days, with the possibility of extension for the same amount. The cost of such a visa, as well as its extension, is $35 .
Documentation
For entry you will need the following documents:
- International passport. It must have at least one blank page. Validity period is at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country.
- Return ticket or ticket to a third country (in case of transit).
- Confirmation of hotel reservation.
- Customs declaration. It is only needed if the tourist has something to declare: large sums of money, expensive personal items.
Migration card
Before passport control, you must fill out a migration card, which is issued on the plane .
It consists of two parts:
- the first (arrival card) is given to the airport employee at passport control;
- The tourist should carefully keep the second (departure card) with him. You will need it to go home or to extend your visa to Bali.
The card is filled out in neat, legible block letters using a black or blue pen. In the “Full name” item, only the first name is indicated in the first line, the last name is indicated in the second, and there is no need to indicate the patronymic. Dates must be written in the format “dd-mm-yyyy”.
A migration card is filled out for each tourist, this also applies to children of any age.
Rules for visa-free entry to Bali in 2021
As part of visa-free entry, Russians in 2021 can only enter Bali through certain entry points.
These are the seaports:
- Tanjung-Uban;
- Batam Center;
- Secupang;
- Sri Bintan.
These are also the airports:
- Nang-Nadim (Batam Island);
- Juanda (Surabaya);
- Kualanamu (Medan);
- Ngurah Rai (Bali);
- Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta).
Documents for visa-free entry
List of documents for entry to Bali:
- proof of solvency;
- hotel room reservation confirmation;
- return tickets (can be replaced with tickets to a third country);
- customs declaration (this must be filled out in the arrival hall or on the plane);
- international passport.
In practice, financial guarantees and confirmation of a hotel room reservation are rarely requested.
If the border patrol officer asks for proof of solvency, the traveler can use an ATM and receive a check with an account statement.
If the border guard requires a hotel room reservation, you can book your accommodation directly in the waiting room online.
Validity period of the passport
The validity of a foreign passport is 6 months from the moment of crossing the border.
Filling out the migration card
The card must be filled out before going through passport control. It is advisable to answer all questions during the trip. This will help save time.
You can use the link for the cards.
You should write in blue or black ink. The letters must be printed, the font must be Latin.
The card is issued for each person entering, including minor children.
Do I need a return ticket from Bali?
Having a return ticket is a mandatory requirement. It is not checked often, but if it is not there, the traveler may have problems with entry.
The best option is to purchase a return ticket with an open date. But it will cost more.
Is insurance required?
In Bali, tourists are at risk of injury or fever (the worst case scenario is contracting Dengue fever). Therefore, taking out insurance is mandatory.
Medicine in Bali is quite expensive, and without this document, treatment can cost up to 20,000 rubles. When purchasing insurance for Indonesia, it is recommended to pay attention to the “assistance + hospital” combination.
You can choose insurance that covers coronavirus treatment and compare prices from all leading insurance companies online on the Cherehapa service.
Traveling with children
Visa on arrival is issued for children over 1 month of age. If a minor under 9 years of age is included in the parent’s passport, then there is no need to pay a fee of $35 for him.
Obtaining a visa at the airport
Obtaining a Bali visa for Russians at Ngurah Rai Airport is a simple procedure. At the first window they charge a fee, at the second they stick the visa into the passport.
In order to save time, tourists traveling together are better off splitting up and standing in both queues at once . True, the counters with these windows are located at a distance from each other: the payment is in the center of the hall, the inset is on the left side.
The average time you should expect when going through security at the airport is up to an hour.
Visa to Indonesia - do Russians need a visa to Bali 2021
There is still a lot of debate on travel forums about whether Russians need a visa to Bali. The reason for this controversy is the government order to cancel visas to Indonesia. And it would seem that everything has now become simpler and clearer, but in reality the law has many nuances and points that require clarification. Because on the spot it will be very unpleasant to find out that you have broken the law or that you are suddenly not allowed to leave the country. Let's take a closer look and discuss whether Russians need a visa to Indonesia.

There are several types of Indonesian visa for Russian citizens - a short-term visa upon arrival and a long-term visa, which is obtained at the embassy before the trip. Since 2015, visa-free entry for Russians to Indonesia has also been introduced, but it can only be implemented in five major cities of the country. Now I will tell you more about each type of visa.
Visa-free entry to Indonesia for Russians
So, in June 2015, the Indonesian government pleased us with the news that from now on, entry into Indonesia is visa-free for Russian citizens. Wow! Great news it would seem. But the law had some tricky clauses.
The rule applies only to 5 airports in the country - Batam (BTH), Denpasar in Bali (DPS), Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta (CGK), Kuala Namu in Medan (KNO) and Surabaya (SUB). That is, if you are planning to fly to one of these airports, you can safely go straight to the Immigration counters, where they will put a free Tourism Permitted stamp in your passport, allowing you to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days .
Important condition! If you flew to one of the above cities and received a visa-free stamp, then you must leave the country only from these five cities , or from four seaports. With a visa-free stamp, you must leave Indonesia through Batam (BTH), Denpasar in Bali (DPS), Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta (CGK), Kuala Namu in Medan (KNO) or Surabaya Surabaya (SUB) airports, or Sri Bintan seaports. Sekupang, Batam Center and Tanjung Uban (Riau). If you arrive, for example, in Bali, but want to leave from Lombok, you will not be allowed on the plane! They turn you right at the airport to where you came from. Or, let’s say, you flew to Medan, drove all over Sumatra and decided to fly from Jakarta - this is possible, because the airports of both Medan and Jakarta are on the list of those allowed for visa-free entry. I hope everything is clear =)
So, let's summarize.
Advantages:
• easy to obtain, no need to fill out immigration cards; • free, this is a huge plus; • 30 days in Bali, or in other parts of Indonesia, because there are no restrictions on movement within the country; • suitable for most tourists, because Vacations rarely last more than 14-20 days.
Flaws:
• it can only be obtained at the airports of five cities in the country - Medan, Jakarta, Denpasar, Surabaya and Batam; • cannot be extended for another 30 days, like a paid visa, i.e., if you decide to stay in the country, this option is not suitable; • limited list of airports from which you can leave the country; • independent travelers will have to plan their trip more carefully so as not to violate the rules of entry and exit.
What does the visa-free entry stamp look like?
Who is eligible for visa-free travel?
This innovation was introduced only for citizens of 22 countries - China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, USA, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland.
Unfortunately, none of the CIS countries are on the lists. Residents of these countries are eligible for an On-Arrival (VOA) visa. Let's consider the process of obtaining it in more detail.
On-Arrival visa - short-term visa to Bali upon arrival
A visa on arrival, as a rule, may be needed in three cases: • you are a citizen of one of the countries not included in the list of countries allowed for visa-free entry, for example, Ukraine, Belarus or Kazakhstan; • you enter or exit Indonesia through a city other than the five listed above; • you want to stay in the country for up to 2 months.
You can get a visa on arrival (VOA - Visa On-Arrival) at any airport in the country. Wherever you fly, this type of visa will be available to you. To receive it, you will need to fill out migration cards and a customs declaration issued on the plane. The questions on migration cards are standard - full name, date of arrival, flight number, departure date and again the flight number. It must be filled out in English. If you are not carrying anything prohibited, then filling out the customs declaration will not be difficult.
At the airport, head to the Visa On-Arrival counters , where you can purchase a visa stamp for $35. It will need to be pasted into your passport. Afterwards, head to the Immigration counters, where you will be given a stamp with the date of arrival on top of the pasted visa.
The process is not complicated, but unfortunately, for two you will have to pay about 70 US dollars, there is no discount for children. And, to be honest, the Balinese work incredibly slowly, and we constantly stood in line for about an hour and a half. I don’t remember that anywhere before I spent so much time in queues for a visa. Some kind of hell :/
Advantages:
• can be obtained at any airport in the country; • you can fly subsequently from any airport in the country; • it is possible to extend the visa up to 60 days.
Flaws:
• costs 35 US dollars per person; • more complex receipt - filling out migration cards, queues; • extension also costs additional money - 350,000 rupees; • to renew, you need to prepare documents, and also go to the migration service at least 3 times - to give documents with a passport, to pay and to get a passport with a visa back.

On-Arrival visa extension up to 60 days
In my opinion, the only reason why Russians should get this visa to Bali is if you want to stay in Indonesia for more than 30 days, because with this visa, unlike a simple stamp, it will be possible to extend your stay in Bali or other parts of the country up to 60 days .
To do this, 7-8 days before your visa expires, you will need to go to the immigration office, taking with you your passport, a copy of your passport, and a return ticket from the country. At the immigration service you will also have to fill out two forms per person. Then submit the entire package of documents, wait for your turn, and receive a date when you need to pay for the visa. On the appointed date, you will need to come to the office again to pay 350,000 rupees in a special window, take a photograph, take fingerprints and make an electronic signature, after which you will be given a date when you can come to collect your passport with a ready-made visa. This is, on the one hand, a simple, but on the other hand, a little crooked and expensive way to extend an Indonesian visa.

Long-term visa to Bali for Russians
If you decide to stay in Bali longer, then there is the option of a so-called social visa, thanks to which you can stay in Indonesia for up to six months. The visa itself is issued for 60 days, but it can be extended 4 more times. The renewal process is the same as described above. Each time you will need to submit a package of documents, then come another day to pay money, after which they will set a date when you can pick up your passport with an extended visa.
Russian travelers apply for a long-term visa, usually in Malaysia or Thailand. The package of documents for obtaining a social visa varies from country to country. Also, the requirements are constantly changing, and therefore I recommend looking at all the latest information on obtaining this type of visa on the official websites of the Indonesian Embassy in those countries where you plan to obtain a long-term visa to Bali: • Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand) • Indonesian Embassy in Kuala- Lumpur (Malaysia)
Advantages:
• you can stay in the country for up to 6 months; • cost $50 for 60 days, which is cheaper than Visa On-Arrival with extension; • you can request a multi-visa and travel to neighboring countries if you suddenly come across cheap air tickets.
Flaws:
• you will have to go to another country to receive it; • while receiving a visa you will need to live somewhere, and this is an additional expense; • it is necessary to collect a complete package of documents with all reservations and return tickets; • if you decide to extend it to six months, then this is about 12 trips to the immigration office; • for each extension you will have to pay another 350,000 rupees, this is ~35 USD or ~10 thousand rubles in total for 4 months.
However, this is the type of visa chosen by long-term residents of Bali. If you want to spend the winter in Bali or another part of Indonesia, devoting several months to surfing, walking through rice fields and volcanoes, then undoubtedly a social visa, despite all its disadvantages, will be the best and most convenient solution.

Airport tax when departing from Indonesia
Usually I prepare as much as possible for a trip and know about all the little things, but in Bali I had a hard puncture. I missed the information that when leaving the country you need to pay as much as 200,000 Indonesian rupees. I packed everything in tight and got to the airport with my last rupees, and then there was this unexpected unpleasant turn. My indignation knew no bounds, but there was nothing I could do. I had to go back out of the airport and withdraw money from an ATM. She paid 400,000 rupees for the two of us with a child, and there was also a withdrawal fee! It was, to put it mildly, inconvenient.
Before you leave the wonderful island of Bali, be sure to try booking exclusive Bali tours from locals to see Bali from a whole new, unexplored side!
You cannot pay by card, only cash. You can give 200,000 rupees in dollar equivalent, but the exchange rate is 10-15% higher than the official one, which is also quite arrogant. Moreover, if, say, you need to pay for two, and this is about 40 dollars, but you only have a 50 dollar bill, then they will give you the change in Indonesian rupees (what are they for anyway?) and also at a wild exchange rate. The complete feeling is that it is a complete deception. Very unpleasant!
But here, too, innovation awaits us. Since February 2015, the airport tax has been included in the ticket price , i.e. You no longer need to pay anything upon departure! On the one hand, air tickets will now cost about $20 more, on the other hand, this is a global practice when airport taxes are included in the ticket price. And there will no longer be such unpleasant surprises on departure, when after the vacation there is practically no money left, and then you still have to pay for access to the check-in counters. So for me personally, this is great news, given our negative experience. And you can now relax knowing that you don't have to pay any additional Welcome to Bali fees!

Covid restrictions in Indonesia
The Indonesian government has established emergency restrictions on public activities from July 3 to July 20, 2021 (PPKM Darurat). The regime applies to regions on the islands of Java and Bali.

By the way, the Indonesian government is now vaccinating not only local residents, but also tourists and business travelers who remain in the country. For example, on the island of Bali, vaccination takes place at Wantilan DPRD BALI.
Tourist visa
Now about what kind of visa is needed in Bali for those Russians who are going there for a longer period, or not for tourism purposes.
The most common is the tourist visa. It opens up the opportunity to stay on the island for up to 60 days , with the right to extend for another 6 months.
This type of visa is ideal for those who do not intend to do business in Bali, but want to stay longer.
A tourist visa is issued through the Indonesian consulate.
The package of documents may vary depending on the city, but in general terms it looks like this:
- a foreign passport valid for at least another 6 months from the date of entry into Indonesia;

- 2 photos 3.5x4.5 cm;
- completed tourist application form in 2 copies;

The consulate may additionally require a certificate from the bank about the financial security of the trip and confirmation of a hotel reservation in Bali.
The cost of a single-entry tourist visa is $50 .
It can be extended 4 times, each time for 30 days. The cost of renewal is up to 1.05 million rupees ($75).
Extensions are usually carried out through visa agents. You can find out more about how to extend a visa to Bali on the consulate website.

Social visa
The opening of a social visa to Bali for Russians in 2020 will, in general, be similar to a tourist one.
The main difference is that a social visa requires a sponsor. It must be an Indonesian citizen with a passport registered in Bali or a company.
The sponsor, in this case, is the one who invites you to his place; he is not at all obliged to pay for accommodation there.
If you cannot find a sponsor, you should contact a visa agency for help.
The list of documents for applying for a social visa is identical to the list for a tourist visa, plus you also need a letter from the sponsor with an invitation to visit and a copy of the sponsor’s identity document.
How much does a social visa cost for Bali? Its duration, cost of registration and extension are completely the same as the tourist one .
You must renew your visa with the same sponsor, but if for some reason you want to change it, you will need to pay an additional fee for re-registration of sponsorship.
If you want to extend your social visa on your own with a sponsor, you will have to come to the agency office three times for each extension:
- Submit documents. The presence of the sponsor and all family members for whom he vouches is necessary;
- Submit biometrics. Again, all family members must be present;
- Pick up your passport. One family member is enough.
The processing time for a tourist or social visa usually ranges from 1-4 working days .
Features of crossing the Indonesian border without a visa
First, you need to immediately clarify that the visa-free regime implies a stay in the country of no more than 30 days. The purpose of the visit should be only touristic, that is, you came to relax, explore the sights of the island, enjoy beautiful views or landscapes, everything that foreign citizens usually come for for 1-2 weeks. The visa-free rule applies only to 5 airports in Indonesia - Denpasar in Bali (DPS), which is our most preferred one, Batam (BTH), Surabaya (SUB), Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta (CGK), Kuala Namu in Medan (KNO). If you arrived at one of these above points, you can safely go straight to the Immigration counters.
The most important condition of this regime is that if you arrived at one of the above airports and received the appropriate stamp, then you must also leave the country through these exit points from Indonesia.
We have already said how many days you can stay in Bali without a visa, so now we will move directly to obtaining this simplified type of permit. Upon arrival, you first present your foreign passport to the migration officers, which must be valid for at least another 6 months, as well as tickets for the return trip. Since very often, without a return ticket, foreign citizens were simply not allowed to leave the country. This is due to the fact that you must spend the exact allotted time here, that is, no more than 30 days. Since the purpose of your stay is tourism, it is logical that you have already booked a hotel room in advance, so such confirmation also often needs to be provided. The main questions that are asked before putting a stamp are what purpose did you come for, how long will you be staying and where will you stay? These are fairly standard questions that cannot cause any suspicion on the part of customs officers. If everything went well, the result will be a Tourism Permitted stamp affixed to your passport, where you can live in Bali without a visa for up to 30 days.
Child visa
Many tourists are interested in whether children need a visa to Bali. Yes, a visa is issued for each child over 1 month old.
Children under 9 years are included in the parents' passport, and visa issuance is free.
For all children over 9 years of age, the visa fee is paid in full, regardless of whether they are included in their parents’ passport or have their own passport.
When traveling with a minor you must have:
- original birth certificate;
- a completed migration card for the child;
- insurance;
- a certificate from school (if the child is a school student).
If a child is traveling with a third party , there must be a notarized permission for export from at least one of the parents.
Also, if a child goes to Bali with only one parent , permission from the second is required.
List of documents for an Indonesian visa
Depending on the type of permit and the requirements of the consulate, the list of certificates and papers may vary slightly. The main set looks something like this: • international passport; • return ticket or to another place outside the state; • confirmation from the hotel/hotel about the reserved rooms; • bank statement about the account balance; • migration form. If you are traveling with a minor child, you should prepare the following documents for him: • international passport (from 14 years old - his, up to - the parent's); • birth certificate; • permission to stay in the country (if the child is traveling there with one parent); • confirmation from the hotel/hotel about the reserved room; • migration form; • photograph taken in accordance with the requirements. It is important to remember that Indonesia does not provide benefits or discounts when registering for minors over 9 years old. All fees will have to be paid in full. Form and example of how to fill it out Filling out the immigration form does not cause any particular difficulties for travelers. Unlike applications for a Schengen visa, information in this application can be entered in Russian. The only item that must be filled in in Latin is information about the invitation or the name of the hotel where the tourist will stay. The form must be filled out very carefully, adhering to the necessary requirements. All entered information must be accurate. Otherwise, the consulate will not only refuse, but also ban entry for a long time. A document must be drawn up for each person planning a trip. Small children from one month of age are no exception. If the child is under 14 years old at the time of leaving his homeland, then his mother or father must sign his card.
Features of the photo
The Indonesian migration services have the same requirements for the photo taken for the visa application as in other countries. But there are some features: the background must be white, and not just light; The photo size is larger than for Schengen - 4:6 cm. The photo must be taken immediately before submitting the documents so that the applicant’s appearance in the photo corresponds to reality. Officials may not accept old, dirty or wrinkled photographs. Or those that don't meet the criteria. And they are: • digital quality; • a high resolution; • clear focus; • natural colors and contrast; • printing on good paper; • the image is approximately 4/5 of the frame; • the light is even, without shadows on the face; • the person sits upright, looking into the lens; • hair does not cover the face; • no headdress, massive jewelry, dark glasses or optical glasses (if they are not for constant wear); • the facial expression is calm, without strong emotions.
Business visa
The best option for those who are going to Indonesia for business purposes, but not as an employee or employer (business negotiations, seminars, conferences), is a business visa.
The validity period of such a visa is from 6 months to a year , but a single period of stay cannot exceed 60 days.
An unlimited number of entries and exits are allowed during the validity of the visa.
The Indonesian company must provide an invitation letter and a list of other documents.
The cost of a business visa to Bali is up to $300 for visa agency services plus $115 consular fee.
Visa-free entry
A tourist must decide on his plans for his stay in Indonesia before arriving. Whether a visa is needed for Bali depends on the purpose and timing of the visit. You can enter without special permits subject to the following list of conditions: 1. The purpose of the trip is exclusively tourism or a guest visit. 2.
