To apply for permanent residence in Finland, you need to live in this country for 4 years on a temporary status.

There are a number of reasons for obtaining a residence permit.

  1. Bonding oneself by marriage with a Finnish citizen.
  2. Family reunification. For example, if a man married a Finnish citizen, then he can obtain a residence permit. Such permission can be issued to children who have not yet turned 18 years of age if the father or mother are citizens of this state.

At the same time, the Finnish side carefully checks the authenticity of the refugees’ words; if the decision is in their favor, then the migrants receive a temporary visa for 12 months; after another 2 years they can be granted permanent residence.

Who does not need a residence permit

Free emigration to Finland and immigration, as well as unimpeded work in such a state without any permits is possible for people from Scandinavian countries. A similar situation applies to residents of other European Union countries, but there are restrictions.

If an EU citizen works or studies in the country of a thousand lakes for no more than 3 months, then no admission or approval by the Finnish side is needed. If a person stays in Suomi longer than this period, then he needs to come to the police station and go through a simple registration procedure.

    About transport in Finland

Maintaining a car is expensive. Every year, just for having a car (insurance plus tax), you have to pay more than a thousand euros. In Finland, gasoline is expensive - about 2 euros per liter. But a car is not a luxury here, but a necessity. Usually a family has at least one car. Our child plays sports, this is 4-5 training sessions a week, she needs to be dropped off and picked up. It only takes my husband 20 minutes to get to work by car. We often go fishing, and here, too, we can’t live without a car.

Public transport always runs on schedule and is always warm. But, in my opinion, it is expensive. One trip costs 3 euros; children's ticket - 1.5 euros. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., travel for pensioners costs 1.2 euros. This decision was made so that transport would be freer in the morning.

There are travel cards. The cost for an adult is 60 euros per month. Children used to have a six-month pass, but it was cancelled. This is not very good, but we buy our daughter a special card, according to which one trip costs 1.2 euros. The cards are personal, but my daughter can pay, for example, for a friend. If a child loses a card, you need to come to the transport service, close the lost card and get a new one. The money that was on the old card will be transferred to the new one minus the service fee (about 8 euros).
